as long as Moore clears concussion protocol, I'm assuming Trent is out (still likely he is regardless) CMC is already out and couldn't play regardless.

Are you sure about that?

"I don't think it's good for anybody to take two weeks off," Shanahan told reporters Wednesday. "Not at all. You should see how Trent was when he came back after a month off or three weeks. It's not good. But we'll see how the game goes and everything. His mindset this week is he's got to be ready to play."

Kyle probably doesn't want Darnold to get murdered.

i think they should play too there is a significant difference in divisional-round performance when starters are rested vs playing They should treat it like a preseason game KS already said gameplannig is vanilla this is more about getting body ready to play
Aside from resting the walking wounded, I think the apex starters should play a couple series before making wholesale line-up changes as depth allows.

Nah. It's just something to freak out about. Every other fan base in the NFL would love to be in this predicament.

3 weeks of not playing football is a long time, doesn't matter who we're talking about. Steve young talked about it. Routine is important, especially this time of the year.

im all for giving guys meaningful rest, especially guys who are truly banged up….They have no business suiting up. Problem is we got A LOT of hurt guys that can't play anyway, so you gotta have those other starters suit up to have a full team. We can active all the PS quads.

I don't think kyle is gonna toss out all his starters for a full 4QRs. McVay is in the same boat, he's gonna tell his guys this game means nothing, so let's not get insane. Preseason like football.

If he drops to the 7th seed, he's then in line to face the Niners. With that history, they can't want that. I will say that will probably happen anyway if they survive the wild card round.
I think at this point, it's more important for the guys to participate in practices like there's a game every week than being in the game. Keep mentally football sharp and conditioning their bodies.

Good I'm glad he's making these guys have the mindset that they gotta play. I'll be shocked if he plays a full game. Williams has always been the guy that seems like he gets time off

Yeah if they're making it to the second rd they more than likely see SF regardless if it's the 6th or 7th seed.

The problem is practices aren't anything like actual games. They don't tackle and that's been an issue for this team recently. There's about a 4% chance of a player getting injured in a game which isn't much different than it is for practice. The severity of the injury is probably likely to be a little worse for game injuries.

I couldn't find any numbers for this but I suspect that the number of teams that lose their edge after a long layoff is pretty high. These guys are finely tuned and it doesn't take a lot to lose that edge. The timing between receivers and the QB can be replicated somewhat in practice but tackling and blocking which are t the heart of football aren't the same as they are in actual games. I said this before but I'm just as concerned about them being flat for the first game as I am about a player getting hurt in the Rams game.

Rest the injured guys. Play the others for at least half the game. Two weeks is a long time between games. Three weeks is an eternity.

Bingo…and game plan accordingly. No Deebo runs up the gut. No pounding for YAC. Realize there's more than this game.

then toss in the backups and let them get some meaningful snaps because we will need everyone to take it all the way!

I think we're just not used to it and have seen the flip side of a surging wild card/number 2 seed, compounded by having the final game of the season be meaningless.

No doubt...a wonderful problem to have...but there's always going to be concern when there's 3 weeks before your next real game.
What's going to happen when the NFL expands to 18 weeks ? Damn near a month off.

More games makes it so clinching playoffs and seeds also takes longer. Math

Not just that but there is already 18 weeks. They changed that a few years ago.
