Should the 49ers retain Steve Wilks?

The O struggled, Brock struggled to grip the ball. That was not a good O performance. D bailed us and CMC. The D is what it is. We don't have run stuffers up front. Hargrave was brought in to rush the passer. Which he can do, but he's not prime Aaron Donald. Teams can focus on Nick, cuz Gregory and Young are kinda meh. Lenoir played well, Ward saved a score, Warner was Warner which is to say elite. I like the decision to play the vet Ryan. I'm not worried about our D right now, I'm hopeful the O can get back to how the pass game looked in clean conditions.

Packers didn't run the ball up the middle though. Was all outside runs and 9ers did a poor job at adjusting.

Young is literally a liability on the edge. Terrible at setting it. He's been a disappointment.
Can Dco hop over here next weekend? He is not busy, right? /j
D came through, especially considering the PI penalties which were killers. Not sure if Wilkes is to blame but I noticed a lot of late developing stunts, that were too slow to disrupt Love at times. Probably on the players though, Lafleur called another good game, receivers were often wide open.
With all the money we have put into the D-Line we are very rarely making our presence know. Sure we get the occasional pressure, but you rarely see them taking over games outside of some moments in Philly and against the Jags. There is far too much talent for these guys to not be controlling LOS's.

Chase seemed to start strong and idk what happened..maybe we just need to play Tampa again:) lol. It's really frustrating to see him play..or..not play tbh. I am sure it takes a lot of energy to move that massive body around but damn, he just looks lazy haha. Like deep down, he would rather be chillin on Netflix with a couple of pizzas. Lol

We got him for a 3rd for a reason. He's not a difference maker at this point though he is talented.

Whose decision was it to start Logan Ryan over Brown? Some guy off the street over the guy who'd been starting for us and playing fairly well. Our coaching staff can be so stupid...

Lord Fangio out in Miami. I think they were a top 10 defense this year. POUNCE on this Kyle NOW !!!
49ers were statistically a top 5 regular season defense and their end-of-year sack and turnover are in line with previous years. Against the red-hot Packers, they only allowed 21 points (which is roughly what the league average is for points scored).

Wilks is pretty well-respected. I get it, the eyeball test suggests we're not as strong as we should be on defense, but I don't see him getting fired any time soon.

Need a big body in the offseason up front

He's going to end up in Philadelphia. They wanted him last year, but Gannon told the Eagles he wasn't taking the Cardinals job, so Fangio went to Miami, then Gannon took the Cardinals job.

Another issue with Fangio is that his scheme doesn't fit our players. He runs a 3-4,and we're setup for a 4-3.

Under a 3-4, you're either moving Bosa to a pass rushing outside linebacker or forcing him to take on the tackle to free up the rushing linebacker (think Justin Smith when he was here). You also need a big, strong nose tackle (basically the opposite of Kinlaw), which we don't have.

Agreed. The only major metric I found that we've had considerable dropoff is in our run defense. Last year, we averaged 3.4 ypc. This year, it's 4.1.
