Should the 49ers retain Steve Wilks?

you check Emmanuel Acho's twitter lately?

lol
I think we have been spoilt in previous seasons with our DCs getting promotions.
Hard to keep momentum with all those changes.
Then to appear to not fit in with the team Wilks seems to have done things very differently.
Embarrassingly pulled from the booth to the side line makes him look weak and out of step.
There is nowhere but out the door for him......
unless the D returns to it's superior form of the prior 4 years and wins number 6....
and then he will be like Lazarus.
Dude gotta go. He sucks and it was obvious as of the Vikings game. Worst hire of the Shanahan era.

No no no. And we can add 5 more no's to it after 10 days when he gets ass raped by Andy Reid.

i mean ill say it again in the regular season from last year compared to this year we have allowed the same amount of points and yards as last year

the difference is this year we are better against the pass but worse against the run (which looking at the stats kind of went bad after Hufanaga injury) which makes people feel like its worse. We have allowed less overall TDs than last year and had more sacks.

This is still a top 3-5 defense in the NFL

What? Uh, no. Even if the same points and yards thing is true, which I won't bother verifying, there are 7 teams in the NFL that allowed less total yards than us. Context matters. We are most definitely not top 3-5. We're top 10, and barely.
IMO, his job is on the line with this game.

That's a little ridiculous. Mahomes is one of the greatest QBs of all time and Reid is one of the best offensive coaches of all time.

On paper is there a defense that is supposed to have more talent then the 49ers yet were in the top 10 range?

It's the same thing with shanahan on offense. We have the best roster bar none of any other teams in the NFL.

It's expected we get to the SB and win it.

We have the most pro bowlers and all pros on our team and are one of the healthiest. Anything less than winning with that should be presum d to be underachieving.

Because any other head coach, oc, or dc would trade their roster for ours no questions asked.
if the defense plays well and we win, all my ill will hate for him will disappear and he will forever be a legend in my book.

He can stay as long as he likes if that happens.

They hired Mike Macdonald.
I bet it was due to our Xmas game, they in for a rude awakening

lol, they view him as the Brock stopper
The defensive coordinator for the calls against the Lions last Sunday night, Steve Wilks, was just terrible. Goff has completed 273 yards and one touchdown in passing to wide receivers and the Tide End. He isn't a competent defensive coordinator, doesn't exert enough pressure, and isn't a good third-down deflation or third-down sack candidate. I hope he gets developed for a defensive coordinator role, etc.

Actually, what I find maddening is that, in a lot of games this season, and both games of the playoffs:

1st Half Steve Wilks is absolutely garbage.
But 2nd half Steve Wilks, somehow finds the adjustments and the defenses clamp down.

Largely, that's been okay against lesser teams, because the pressure of our offense scoring 30+ forces teams to abandon their run game.
But, our two playoff games, we've seen that good, balanced offenses that can patiently move the ball, stick to the run, can give us issues. Coupled with the fact that our offense started a little slow as well, it's not a surprise to see why the last two games have been tough.

It's absolutely crucial that the 49ers don't fall into a hole against the Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes/Andy Reid are too good to not score points in the second half, and the Chiefs defense is too good to just allow us to comeback like the Lions did.

Wilks and the defense weren't much better in the 2nd half vs Detroit. First couple of drives they kept marching right down the field and were only stopped by the stupidity of their HC continually going for it on 4th down. The fumble was the only time they were really stopped.
