I agree with the premise, the problem is I'm not sure AA is fit, and Young and Gregory aren't doing much of anything. Bosa's gonna get mobbed. Good time for Hargrave to get home.

The lions Oline isn't the same oline this weekend that was considered elite all year. They're missing both of their guards, one of them is an excellent player, and their Center is SUPER banged up. If It wasn't the playoffs - I don't think he would be playing (knee and ankle sprain last week, I believe). THey're missing their best run blocking TE.

I think they'll give bosa a ton of attention, I think Hargrave & Armstead need to have a huge game and step up. They're playing against backups/injured guys and if you pressure goff up the middle, he's drastically worse.

I'm also hoping all the injuries will stymie their run game and give our linebackers a chance to clean up.

Graham Glasgow is healthy and has been their starter for most of the year at RG. They're missing Jackson at LG and Ragnow at center is banged up but he's been banged all season long and still managed to pull off an All Pro caliber year, I wouldn't be putting my hope in him being anything other than excellent. They'll have him hopped up on painkillers and ready to go Sunday.
As we are playing the Lions in this NFC title game, F them.

But that said, ...

If we (the 49ers) weren't playing in this game, or if the Lions were playing someone else it would be very easy to root for them.

They have been nothing but also-rans (at best) for my entire life and basically for a decade or two prior to that, definitely since the pre-Super Bowl era.

They are just one of those loser franchises you feel sorry for, like the Browns, etc.

Several organizations have won or appeared in Super Bowls that joined the NFL well after the Lions did.

But they chose the wrong year to make the NFC title game again, so F them in this game.

With the center of the line being weak, it is necessary for Hargrave to show up. He needs to have a game like he did in Jacksonville where he just made Lawrence uncomfortable all day. But I have hope for AA as well. First game back, there is bound to be some rust and conditioning issues. I thought he had some nice moments. A couple of nice swim moves. Have to think he is only going to be better this week. If they can get a push up the middle, makes it less likely for a back to chip an end, or if the back is a committed blocker, more likely the TE is not wasting time chipping either. So thats Bosas hope. Otherwise they will be able to cover him up with talented ends and some additional scheming.

The dude just went over Shannys whole gameplan. Said they will shift to one side but run towards the other, or shift and will play action towards that side... Shanny better make that fool look foolish

he has like a 5 year olds understanding of kyle's offense, this is gonna be easy lol
gotta LOVE how sports nation is doubting the niners, this is exactly how it needs to be!

They are all worried about stopping our run game and playaction. Watch Brock come out and carve up that crappy pass defense and hit em with the run game in the 2nd half.

Why not use CMC like Deebo and put another RB on the field?

Shanny has done it before in the past, but it's not even remotely comparable the what Deebo does to defensive personnel because Mitchell doesn't factor in the pass game the way Deebo does. Also, I think ultimately the greatest effect of having Deebo on the field is it makes DBs tackle, and DBs don't like tackling Deebo.

Its not like its easy to tackle CMC either. Those plays where we have Deebo running across the formation as the ball is snapped makes defenses hesitant because they don't know whether the ball is going to CMC one way or to Deebo going the other way. I absolutely think those plays will work with CMC playing the Deebo role.

Then who plays the CMC role? Yes, the two can be interchangeable, somewhat, but the beauty of the 49er offense is when both are on the field at the same time. That's when defenses face a conundrum on how to defend the 49er offense.

I get that. My point is if we don't have Deebo, we can still run these jet motions and some of the creative stuff Kyle draws up. It seems to me Kyle almost completely abandons things when Deebo isn't on the field. I feel like we can still use some of those Deebo type things even if he isn't on the field because we still have the most versatile players in the NFL on offense. While Mitchell and Mason aren't the receivers that CMC is, they are still solid ball carriers. Those other 2 RB's not having the same receiving skills does not affect plays like the one I mentioned.

Understood. You're just referring to that play in a vacuum and why Kyle won't call it with CMC getting the ball on an end around with Mitchell lined up in the backfield as a RB with Juice. I don't know. What I do know is that it goes beyond just the skillset they each bring.

When it's 21 personnel with CMC and Juice in the backfield and Deebo going into motion to get the handoff, it's a different grouping than Mitchell and Juice in the backfield with CMC going in motion to get the handoff (31 personnel), and defenses will field different personnel because of that difference. Maybe that still doesn't answer your question. In that case, I don't know why Kyle doesn't do that.

There was a game where Bosa was used as a DT in pass rushing situations. I hope Wilks considers that if Bosa wants to wreck their backup right guard. It would also get Bosa away from the strong OTs that the Lions have.

But yeah, time for Hargrave to earn his contract this Sunday.

I love how no one favors the #1 seed playing at home
