St Brown is not going to be shadowed. Nearly half of his snaps come from the slot. We are not going to move Ward around and change up the whole defense. He'll stay on his side, Thomas on his. Lenoir will match up with St Brown more than anyone and we will play alot of zone and ask Warner and Greenlaw to play under or down on routes. Will take the safeties involvement as well. I don't think we have any expectation to shut St Brown down. If he gets 7 catches for 85 yards, then so be it. Hopefully we can keep him out of the end zone, and limit big plays. The Lions are 3rd in the league in percent of pass attempt that gain more than 20 yards. We need to make sure Thomas doesn't get burned or flagged on a deep route by Jameson. Need to make sure we dont bite so hard on underneath slants by St Brown and Laporta that Reynolds gets open on a deep cross. Make sure a Gibbs screen doesnt take off. You have to make Goff earn it, and not get a 50 yard play.
For as bad as the pass defense seemed against the Packers, Love made one really nice throw to Doubs along the sideline. The rest of the explosive plays were from defenders slipping. We did a decent job of not giving them anything big and keep it in front. Hopefully this time we can get a lead. Once the threat of the rush is gone, our linebackers are free to make plays.
