SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS vs DETROIT LIONS - 2023 Season NFC Championship

Not sure if this was already discussed but what a huge disappointment that Strahan kept talking and not letting Montana make some type of speech as he handed the trophy to York. Poor Joe looked confused because Strahan wouldn't shut up.

I caught all this live, Strahan instructed Joe to pass the trophy down to Jed, and Joe clearly didn't hear the message. That's why Joe kept the trophy. Strahan went on to interview or talk to someone else and after that talk, mentioned again for Joe to pass the trophy down, which he did.

Not sure why Joe was even up there. He has nothing to do with getting that trophy. He knew it too by the looks of his face. Like why tf am I holding this?
ITt will be interesting to see if Campbell learned anything yesterday. If they go to the playoffs again will he be a little more conventional with his decision making. Gambling like he did when they were dominating the game was silly. He had a chance to add points but instead gave new life to the 49ers. Fourth down stops are like turnovers or sacks. They're a big emotional lift.

That's kind of what I was saying. Like let Purdy or someone have the moment. No disrespect to Joe but he had little to do with all of this
Obviously I'm happy about going back to the SB but I feel bad for Lions fans. They really thought this was finally their year. I remember the 49ers stunning loss to the Lions in 1957 so I can sympathize with the Lions fans.

He was an honorary captain. Barry Sanders was the honorary captain for the Lions. Joe had nothing to do with this game but everything to do with the greatness of the franchise.

Wow. Don't you too have anything better to do than call out Joe? It is just tradition that a team icon hand the trophy over to the owner of the winning team.
Was anyone at the game? Curious how loud Levi's was? Sounded loud on tv. Loudest I think I've heard it on tv

He was honorary team captain for the game. That's the gig, and I personally LOVED seeing him up there.

Yea, I have no problem with Joe Montana being involved there. He looked a little bewildered to be holding the trophy though, maybe they didn't tell him what he was supposed to do with it.

Good disguise to come up with a big 4th down stop.

I didn't call out Joe, Karen. Take a Xanax or something.

Gotcha it was just poorly executed then. It was just awkward and I feel more focus should've been on the current players. No dig at the GOAT at all.

Joe has EVERYTHING to do with how this franchise came to prominence! Without Joe,Bill Walsh, Eddie D, Jerry Rice, and others, this franchise wouldn't be where it's at today. Never forget the past or isolate players who helped make this franchise what it is!

Wilks, for all his problems during this game, came up with some good calls on key downs in the 2nd half.

I'm so happy the 49ers have a QB that can provide back breaking plays like this
