🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

As far as blocking Chris Jones, we all know how that went in Super Bowl LIV. The 49ers offensive line handled Jones okay in the first three quarters, but in the fourth quarter, when they needed to score, Jones took over the game. If the 49ers can't keep Jones from wrecking things in the middle of the line, it will be a long day for the 49ers' offense. I believe the 49ers will figure out how to handle Jones this time.

Jones haven't met Banks or Brendal or Felic yet

in that scenario, purdy will scramble, jimmy can't/couldn't
Lets hope Brock does

He had a pass knocked down in the first quarter v Detroit Lions

And Purdy is only 6 1, Chris Jones wing span is about 7 2.

So that is a big height to have to throw the ball over.

This game seems like a great time to showcase Purdy's legs. Doubtful KC spends a lot of time preparing for QB runs and until last game, Purdy's mobility was a well kept secret.

I have said it before. The KC O line guards are not that good. And their tackle is the most penalised player in football.

We need the Refs to call all holdings on Bosa.

And Javon Hargraves to play at the standard we are paying him.

They will miss their All Pro guard, Joe Thuney. AA and Hargrave must make their presence felt.

This will be interesting to watch.

Detroit lost their starting LG and Frank Ragnow slid over on a majority of plays to help. KC has a similar quality Center with Creed Humphrey. I expect him to slide over to help Nick Allegretti. That will leave AA to go against Trey Smith. AA will have to win there by himself.

Our Edge guys should create some issues with KC's OTs on run plays where they are BAD. Much better on PP.
I propose if we win the Super Bowl, we do no complaining about the team for a period of time, perhaps as much as 10 seconds.
We may need to take the site down for 10 secs, to make the above possible, maybe a moment of silence?
The 49ers have started slowly and had to play catch-up. This game will feature some great play-callers and schemers, in Shanahan, Spagnuolo and Andy Reid. I would expect the Chiefs to jump out in front, especially since Wilks' defense started slowly a lot this season. Wilks makes good halftime adjustments, but he often starts slow.

Unfortunately, a slow start against the Chiefs could spell disaster. They're not likely to make the same mistakes the Packers and Lions made.

Mahomes with Kelce, Rice, and Pacheco is potent...BUT...Purdy with BA, DS, GK, and CM is lethal.
Who wants it more, focus, force, and control.

I've never seen them win one =/ no one really 35 or under has seen it - and sometimes 40 and younger unless you started watching football at like 5.

honestly, I want us to win as many superbowls as possible but I really just want to experience ONCE. at least once. I've been such a big fan my whole life.. I just want to make sure I experience once. I'm really hoping this is the year. I'm hoping that this is the start of a great run with kyle & brock...something special. I'll be able to die a happy man. lol

I don't think you do this (been posting with you long enough) but I try to not let the result dampen the ride. We win this game and we'll cherish it, but we'll move on to the next season and try to do it again. Same thing if we lose. The excitement for me is everything that's happened over the last year to lead to this moment, and then the big games themselves obviously.

Yeah, it's good advice because otherwise you never truly end up enjoying anything. I remember after the 2012 superbowl, I was at peace with the loss. it sucked but it was a fun season.

I just get off on this team being so accomplished and the players getting awards and rings. I also think there are so many players on this team that I would love to see earn a ring. I also feel like a super bowl ring in this day and age by the 49ers, would look amazing. lol

I'm 32 and in the same boat.

I just want to see one... just one SB win. And I can die happy.

I'm kinda spoiled, this will be the eighth superbowl I have seen my team in. I hope we win one for you younger fans. It's a great feeling, and a memory that lasts a lifetime.

Hell yeah, that's awesome! Only five fan bases can say they've seen their team play in at least 8, pats have the record with 11.

I have a feeling we will get to, or break, 11 with our new QB 😍😈

Especially with the state of this team, if we don't have any key injuries. Between the talent on this team and Brock's contract, we should be able to compete for the next 5-6 years pretty easily.

Bosa has a chance to really have a special game - we will need him to come through. With thuney being out, chiefs were pressured a lot more than usual. Hopefully our defense has one of its better performances and can hold KC to 24 or less.

i feel like this will be a 28-24 kind of game with us putting a ring on it 😈

Wilks was given a tough situation in a lot of ways. He inherited a very talented defense that was top ranked, but he also had to learn his coaches, players, and the system. I don't think he's had much of a chance to improve the system or add his touch. That's a tall task to ask someone to do and I think he's done a solid job, it'll really come down to how he has the guys prepared for the super bowl.

i think if he is given another off season, he will be able to make a big improvement. It doesn't seem like he is going anywhere. Only person I'd replace him with is BB and I doubt we get him.
Wilks, though, has been a little slow to adjust, at times. In some games, he's adjusted after the first couple of drives, but in others, it's been halftime after he has talked to the Quality Control Unit. Again, you can't start slow against the Chiefs. The 49ers defense needs to play their best game of the season on February 11th.
