Our defense has to hold KC to field goals instead of touchdowns in the red zone. Slow them down and if we can get two or more scores ahead, then we just run on them at that point - and ball hog the game to the end. We can't let KC have the ball at the end of the game, we all know what Patrick can do.

That really will be the key - holding the chiefs to field goals and not touchdowns. Need to bracket Kelce.

hard part of covering Kelce is he abandons his play route often if he sees open space. Lol him and pat are great about that. It's a major reason why he always seems open.

he's talked multiple times about how before the play him and Pat will say "hey if they show this and leave this spot open, I'm gonna take it." And then they'll run with it.

i think we should run a lot of man coverage, press him and double him. Make him work for it. Everytime he gets it - have Dre light his ass up.

Those are the option/choice routes that is built in every WCO system. At least I think so. Once Brock gets to that level as a QB, with his recievers (looks like he already has it with Aiyuk), he'll be an even more explosive quarterback.

I think you do your best with Kelce on third downs, but you won't stop Patrick. Slowing him down is the best anybody can do, and you just have to outscore them. Its going to be a track meet kind of game unless our defense can get a turnover or two.

now if we can figure out how to fix our run game - we might be dangerous.

putting AA on the edge helped a lot in the 2nd half which makes me think its we have trouble setting the EDGE. Chase Young seems capable but he goes inside a lot trying to get to the QB a lot. Its like he tries to make the big plays. Gregory is just flat out awful at setting the edge and is a liability against the run

Also we are missing a DT like DJ jones who eats space.Hargrave has always been bad against the run but is one of the best interior DL when it comes to getting pressure (both Hargrave and AA are top 10 in pass rush win rate)

edit: i think we are missing a 3rd LB like Azeez last year he was really good against the run

I think Armstead should put out on the edge on early downs, inside only on obvious passing downs.

I'm guessing Kinlaw would be inside a lot if so?

Kelce is far and away the biggest threat. He's the number one target most of the time. The Chiefs don't have a lot of receiving options so they need to try and keep Kelce from running around and finding open space because if he does Mahomes will find him.

I wonder if a d-line run package with AA - SJD - JK - Bosa would reduce the opposing team's run success rate.

SF: 49ers are 6-0 straight-up as favorites in the postseason under head coach Kyle Shanahan

The only thing that will matter in the game.

49ers 25th worst pass blocking VS Kansas City Dline and Chris Jones.

If the 49ers can't or choose not to run the ball it's going to be ugly.

They have other good targets, Rice and Grey, etc... andy will spot any doubt teams on Kelce and make a defense pay.

Personally, I'd go nickel/dime defense and run blitz if I have a run down. I'd rather have Pacheco beat my defense than Patrick. But thats just me.

It looks pretty predictive to me.

I'd need to see the full list thru 18, though.

Bro, picking a number out of thin air, in this case 28, totally arbitrarily, is basically step one in analysis that is NOT predictive. That post is stupid as f**k!

My guess is KC is hoping to stack the box and generate win the trenches. After that I agree they will try to cancel out Aiyuk with Sneed which will work to a good degree imo. Its happened in other games this season. That still leaves Deebo, Kittle and Juice/CMC for wreaking havoc.

The key is the trenches as always. I dont care if we dink and dunk them to death. If that's what is there we take it, but we should be running the ball.

100% and the short passing game as I said up top. If they are selling out to stop the run, you know he will disguise and drop guys to try and trick Purdy. If my dumbass can imagine this you know Kyle and Purdy expect it.

Agree on the kickoff

The penalties costing the offense a down would kill scoring, which the NFL would NEVER do.

They can chip the balls and track them, but unless they're chipping body parts, there will still be the element of the human eye to determine when the player was down.

Some announcers actually provide good info, like Romo, but unfortunately he us also annoying at the same time. For the most part hes right, the announcers are lame. Id MUCH prefer to hear Papa and Tim Ryan's radio broadcast synced with the TV.

You should have stopped at Rice.
Seriously the only receiving threats they have are Kelce and Rice. End of list.

Bro they had f'ing Kadarious Toney out there for most of the season, that's how pathetic their skill position group is.

IMO Warner can and should man up Kelce - just shut his ass down.

Omenihu is out though. He had 7 or 8 sacks as their edge, so that's a pretty significant loss for them.
