I've said it before, but will say it again...

Mahomes with Kelce, Rice, and Pacheco is potent...BUT...Purdy with BA, DS, GK, and CM is lethal.

My concern really isn't the offense. It's the defense - they've been super inconsistent this year and they looked awful against the lions.

I just hope brock doesn't turn the ball over cause the chiefs defense is very capable of doing that - very underrated corners over there and have very athletic linebackers.

In decades gone by, "Defense won championships" and the fear was real. In today's NFL...they've done everything they can to neuter the D and allow points to flow. It's still very important to have a great D, but even the Great ones can only do so much. That's where I'm coming from.

I think our Defense is just as good (better really) than the teams that have beaten the Chiefs. Even when our Defense looked awful (i.e. - against the Lions) we still won. Now...oddly enough...the 49ers appear to be improving. They played one good quarter in the Divisional round. They played 2 good quarters in the Conference round. I fully expect to see a 'complete' game in the Super Bowl.

All year, and in the playoffs, the Chiefs have not consistently put up points. They averaged 17 during the year and 23 in the playoffs. Against inferior opponents it was enough, but against the two teams we just played...it was not. The Chiefs/Mahomes were beaten by both the Lions and the Packers.

***I'm going 'positive' here.***

The Niners win by 2 TDs or more.

So because I am just one of those guys I will tell you upfront I am a football fan first and a Chiefs fan second. I came here before the last SB in 19 and have been involved in forums of the Eagles ( never again) the Ravens ( probably not going back) and the Bills ( been there 3-4 years and love their fans). Don't judge me by Chiefsplanet as it's hard to weed through the idiots over there.

first off I have read through most of this thread and wow what a difference from 19. Some chest beating mixed with a lot of angst. Your offense is light years ahead of where they were in 19 and pose a substantial challenge to any DC. I do have concerns for how we will cover everyone while holding that unicorn CMC somewhat in check. I have heard some talking about a blowout. I seriously doubt that as Spags is a defensive genius and has the guys to pull it off. Unfortunately I see it as a nail biter 28-24 pick 'em we may hold you to 28 but I have no confidence we can score more than that. We have had multiple issues. One is McKinnon who is a TD machine and our best blocking back. Hardman is back but after the fumble in Buffalo who knows.

This team is nothing like the team that played Tampa. Mahomes is a QB now, he was just a guy that ran around and waited for Hill to get open then. He is fully satisfied now to take check downs and throw for 250. Back then it was holding the ball and throwing deep.

the only way to stop Kelce is hit him off the line. If you do that he will get frustrated and disengage a bit. I have seen it happen when teams have done it.

You guys should be amazed by Purdy. I have pulled for him since he started playing for you. I watched him play for Iowa State and put up almost 400 on my Jayhawks. The fact he has achieved what he has so far is amazing. This is a legacy game for him. I doubt that the moment will be too big for him, but our defense will be the best he has seen. Sneed has shut down everyone from Hill to Jefferson and allowed his first TD against Buffalo two weeks ago. It was a perfect throw and an even better catch. McDuffie is nearly as good. It should be a hell of a game.

Why not do what NBA coaches did/do in playoff series. Start spotlighting what the other team was getting away with before and in between games. Phil Jackson used to do it all the time to help get calls

Keep talking about it. Make it an issue. Fans called out that tackle for abusing the rules so hard week 1 and it went viral to the point the league had to crackdown. This is kinda similar. Draw some attention to it, they hold WRs also.

Great insight, thank you. I always appreciate when fans of the opposing team can contribute intelligent, well spoken insights into the game.

This further supports my insane thought that Kyle wanted Brock to be the QB in 2022 the entire time but it'd be too crazy to start him over healthy Trey and Jimmy. So Kyle ran Trey until he got hurt, knew Jimmy would get hurt because that's what he does, and now Kyle has his preferred QB on the field.

Over/under on how many "this is unreal Jim, watch this", moments, when Mahomes is just doing something basic like throwing the ball away

Lol I always said that the only reason we kept winning after all the injuries was cause our QB depth chart was reversed, worst to best, and even Kyle knew that. That's wild af.
