🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

Chiefs D isn't filled with the big names that we have but they've got ballers across the defense. DL is great, Jones is still a wrecking machine and we'll have to make sure he doesn't kill us like in 2019. McDuffie and Sneed are the best set of corners we've played this year save maybe Cleveland and we know how that game went.

Kyle and Brock will have to be on their A+ game in this one and Brock may need to use his legs more cuz I think we'll have a lot of tight coverages to deal with in this one. Can't rely on flags to be thrown either...

Our WRs will need to make sure their hands are grabbing anything coming their way. Can't have tips/overthrows in this one. Everyone has to bring their best.

Just win, I don't care what the score is as long as we have more points than them.

If we can get 24pts we should win. Running the ball is key. I feel like when it's looked at as a massive advantage (which it is) kyle doesn't do it for some weird ass reason.

Spags is gonna dare him to throw it. He's gonna blitz like crazy, not just on passing downs either.

I agree, but Kyle needs to dictate the game, not spags. We nee to be able to run through that.

I know which is why its more a pipe dream for me.

I can see sneed cancelling Aiyuk 90% and McDuffie covering Deebo well. This is what cleveland did. Kittle is the mismatch in almost every game imo. but if they can single cover our two wideouts with effectiveness he can double George while trying to run blitz us etc as NY suggested.

Like Bosa said, who can run and stop the run better? Its always the trenches.

If we can effectively run the ball all those plans they have are eroded. If they sell out on the run like we think they might Purdy and co must find whos open. I can see a quick pass dink, dunk stuff working in this scenario.

Mahomes is playing perfectly right now though. He's on an Eli Manning/Joe Flacco run through the playoffs. Just hope we can slow him down and can do enough against their defense, and we can. It's all about executing. Don't look at his postseason touchdown numbers or his yards per attempt. He's crushing it right now.

I think we should employ the same offensive strategy that they killed us with last year in the regular season. Screen them to death, outside runs and reverses early on. Spread them out then later on the middle of the field will be open in both the run and pass games. We cannot come out and attack their strengths. Attack their weaknesses, and force them to overcommit.

Yup, 49ers have to beat KC *and* the refs!
Part of me wonders about if we come out run heavy, like the MNF Rams game in 2021, where we came out and ran 40+ times and won 31-10. That would be a fun return to our roots if CMC, Deebo, Brock, and even Mason/Mitchell just kept pounding for 3-5 yards per play, and just absolutely demoralize and suffocate KC. Run the ball 40 times and we win.
That was pre-Brock, and now we have a guy that can attack them through the air, but in any case, I hope we get the run game going early.
Kyle should add some wrinkle to the offense and actually use players such as juicecheck. He needs to maximize the offense and pedal to the metal until that clock hits 0 in the fourth quarter.
one thing's for sure, there will be trick plays because its the superbowl

I heard Peter king tell a story about the chiefs-bills game.

andy Reid used a goal line play that he hasnt called since Alex smith was there - because he knew that the bills coach knew him so well, that the only way to catch him off guard was as to use a play before pats time.

so it's safe to say, Andy Reid will have tricks up his sleeve. I imagine Kyle will too.

did Kyle use any thing like that with jimmy in the last SB?

the CMC or Deebo pass with JJ on that side, it looks like JJ is out there to run block, but he releases and gets downfield
or steal the KC goalline shovel pass to the TE

that's crazy

makes sense if you think about it, it's ONE final game, no better time to try something never seen before to change the game.

I can definitely see CMC throwing another pass

Big part of this game, open field tackling from KC will get tested. We have some guys that are hard to get to ground.
