🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

As a betting person, why wouldn't they choose the chiefs to win? I mean, look at their track record. And look at the 49ers recent record under shanny.

You either go with your head, or go with your heart. I tend to bet with my heart when my favorite team is involved, hence i end up always losing. And why i stay away from betting all-together.

You need to make the smart bet. You bet against your team. If they lose, you make some money. If they win, who cares if you lost money, your freaking team won. Win-win situation.

It's ok. Nobody believes in us. It's us against the world. When we win, it'll be the biggest upset in Super Bowl history which will make it all the sweeter.

I know thats the smart bet but i just can't do it. I can't pace a bet against my team.

Id rather just not bet.

I'm honestly surprised we are favored. Sure we are the better roster but we haven't played a complete game in quite a while. Pass rush has been a one man show. Run defense has been crap.

we are playing an all time great QB/TE/HC with a top defensive unit. I expect and hope we win but idk why anyone is surprised that others are picking the chiefs. They also have tons of super bowl history on their side. You can almost count on one hand how many HC/QB combos have, as much, or more experience that these guys do.
hell yeah!

Those graphs were not easy to understand. From inspecting the snapcount of the AFCCG, it appears that Leo Chenal is their third LB. So he's the guy on the field when KC is in base. When they are in nickel, Chenal comes off and Joshua Williams or Jaylen Watson (CB) comes on the field. If 49ers use 21, then Chenal would be on the field, unless KC wants to go light on run defense and use their nickel personnel.
From what I've read, KC is not shy about using dime to matchup against 11 personnel - this is light on run defense.

If you take into account our recent history with the chiefs, why would you hope to face them?

I mean, does anyone think the dolphins and benglas wanted to face the old 49ers in the super bowl? "I hope we face joe montana and jerry rice in the super bowl." Nah, i don't think any fan of those teams ever said that. Same goes for the majority of 49er fans and i don't think there is anything wrong with that. I mean, your whole point is to win a super bowl. Give me the easiest route there.

That's my captain
all the the big money bets are all on the Niners tho.

"We are still seeing most of our tickets on Kansas City, two-thirds of spread tickets are on the Chiefs. But our bigger tickets and most importantly our sharper players have been on San Francisco so far."
The 21 personnel run defense "weakness" of KC is very cool to see, but these stats (especially run stats) never seem to go the Niners favor ever. I was telling guap that the Bills ran all over the Bears the week before they played the NIners in the Levi's opener, and we couldn't do much on the ground.

I hope it can stand up to the stats, but sometimes these stats can be misleading. Kinda like how the Niners were very good in run defense in terms of yards per game, but not necessarily yards per carry.

What if KC was facing pass heavy teams that also run some zone? Or teams throwing in zone sporadically?

If you want to parse the stat out a bit, let's see how they did against teams similar to the Niners offense, like maybe the Eagles, Lions, Packers, Dolphins, Cowboys?

There was also that stat that the Ravens only faced 21 personnel like 6 snaps all of this season prior to Christmas........what happened with that when it mattered?

I would SOOOOOOOO LOVE that this stat translates, and McCaffrey can win the MVP by halftime. Just not sure how it will....

My best hope is Kyle anticipates how they'll overdefend it and make them pay.
