🏆 SUPER BOWL LVIII PREGAME THREAD - SF 49ERS vs KC CHIEFS 🏆

I've done a pretty good job the past week and a half avoiding all forms of media and the boards, groups, and chats.

I'm scared to death.

That said, I did see the drunk Shanny interview and I loved it.

I don't think the 49ers can "stop" the Chiefs and they don't need to. What they need to do is "contain" the Chiefs, make them dink & dunk till they either make a mistake (Mahomes has thrown 2 INTs in each of the two SBs he's lost) and hope to tighten up in the Red Zone and make them kick Field Goals instead of always a TD. Mahomes will get his TDs, just make sure he gets more FGs than TDs. If the 49ers D holds Mahomes to 24 points, the 49ers win.

Mahomes has only lost 1 sb

Hey, RonnieLott, what was your favorite era of 49ers football and why? You seem like a really passionate fan.

Lawsuit?
They said the Thursday practice is the intense one. Hopefully the chiefs let the niners do that at the raiders facility
Why is this field thing so freaking hard to solve? You have High Schools all over the country that have Field Turf. It's designed to hold up to monsoon rains. It doesn't matter how much rain or snow or sunshine or wind. They have drainage underneath built right in. Why can't you move the rest of the week practice there? It's the Super Bowl. This is absurd. Further they have Junior College's around that play football. Also with Field Turf. Must be some in the greater Las Vegas area. Why can't you move there?

Who the hell comes up with the idea to lay loose sod over Field Turf anyway. No dirt underneath to support it. 1 week prior to coming. I mean come on. That doesn't even make basic common sense.

Walkthrough on the swamp. You can work out in the gym and use the hot tubs and ice baths. Practice somewhere else more stable on Field Turf.

I don't find this so strange. KC are the defending champions. They have the best QB in the league. It's fair enough. They should be favoured. The media work on narratives and the narrative of the defending champions with the best QB in the league being favourites is not outrageous. I never understood why we should care about what the media say. It's like these idiotic "power rankings" that drive fans crazy all year. They mean zip when the actual game takes place.

I never understood why we should pay attention on what "Vegas" says either. Bookies make markets not predictions. We're favoured by Vegas, i.e. more money comes on our side. So what? Gamblers are not prescient (in fact, I'd say they're slightly dumber than the average population since they KNOW that the math is rigged against them and still they keep gambling).

A bunch of talking heads lean Chiefs, and a bunch of gamblers lean Niners. And? This affects the actual game how?

At this point wouldn't it make more sense to just use a turf field? It isn't ideal but sounds better than this
The issue with the practice field, from what I read, was an injury concern. It's not an excuse, it was an effort to protect players before the game. We all remember the game at Metlife where there were 3 major injuries. The team doesn't want their players getting injured before the friggin super bowl.

I thought this was a really good analysis from an experienced handicapper. His perspective on picking the niners to win is that he believes the defense's drop in performance is less likely to continue for a 3rd game in a row than the Chiefs maintaining their offense's improvement during the playoffs when looking at all the factors involved, which he does.

That video actually made me feel way better about our chances.

Yeah, I'm just hoping that we can get quality enough reps to where it doesn't affect us during the game. This is a situation that just keeps on giving, and just when I think I'm coming to terms with it, I start getting P.O.'d again.😂😂😂
