I don't think the 49ers can "stop" the Chiefs and they don't need to. What they need to do is "contain" the Chiefs, make them dink & dunk till they either make a mistake (Mahomes has thrown 2 INTs in each of the two SBs he's lost) and hope to tighten up in the Red Zone and make them kick Field Goals instead of always a TD. Mahomes will get his TDs, just make sure he gets more FGs than TDs. If the 49ers D holds Mahomes to 24 points, the 49ers win.

Hey, RonnieLott, what was your favorite era of 49ers football and why? You seem like a really passionate fan.

A turing test

.

the least likely thing to happen is what will probably happen. that's the way its been in the postseason. who would have thought Purdy would be in charge of one of the greatest comebacks in 49er franchise history. very unlikely scenario. most likely scenario KC runs up and down the field putting up points to where the game is over by halftime 2nd Sf is able to stay in contention till the end when Mahomes does a game winning drive after a Purdy int 3rd somehow SF is able to win with a turnover late in the forth. and least likely scenario that no one that watches football is considering. this SF team under Wilks comes out and dominates shutting the KC offence down and Purdy puts up crazy numbers in a dominating win for SF in a shocker that now one saw coming. nothing has gone to script so for Buffalo at home; made no sense Baltimore at home; made no sense SF, both comebacks completely out of character and made no sense.

Why is this field thing so freaking hard to solve? You have High Schools all over the country that have Field Turf. It's designed to hold up to monsoon rains. It doesn't matter how much rain or snow or sunshine or wind. They have drainage underneath built right in. Why can't you move the rest of the week practice there? It's the Super Bowl. This is absurd. Further they have Junior College's around that play football. Also with Field Turf. Must be some in the greater Las Vegas area. Why can't you move there?

Who the hell comes up with the idea to lay loose sod over Field Turf anyway. No dirt underneath to support it. 1 week prior to coming. I mean come on. That doesn't even make basic common sense.

Walkthrough on the swamp. You can work out in the gym and use the hot tubs and ice baths. Practice somewhere else more stable on Field Turf.

Yeah, I'm just hoping that we can get quality enough reps to where it doesn't affect us during the game.

You just move the full speed stuff to some place else. They probably got a high school down the street. Slow speed walk throughs are fine even in a swamp. Sometimes you just do a walkthrough to discuss a strategy or situation. Not everything is full speed. That's fine in the swamp. Your shoes get muddy. But they can clean and dry that.

we give Shanahan a lot of grief, but it took Andy Reid 21 years to win a Superbowl as a head coach. 14 of those 21 years he was in the post-season - with a very good record. lost his own superbowl. it wasn't until he found the greatest QB on the planet that he finally started winning Superbowl's. Kyle's in his 7th year and he's in his 2rd Superbowl as a HC- he's well ahead of Andy's pace already...

I thought this was a really good analysis from an experienced handicapper. His perspective on picking the niners to win is that he believes the defense's drop in performance is less likely to continue for a 3rd game in a row than the Chiefs maintaining their offense's improvement during the playoffs when looking at all the factors involved, which he does.

That video actually made me feel way better about our chances.

i heard on the radio that the largest bet placed was $500k on the niners to outright win
The 49ers players seem to all be good guys. Hence the media has made the Chiefs the bad guys of this Superbowl. Actually, our guys seem to be exceptionally quite family-oriented and wholesome. I enjoy rooting for this team, both on and off the field. Kittle, CMC, Purdy, Warner, Juice, Bosa, Trent, Armstead. Big personalities and nice guys all around.
I like the Niners chances.....IF CMC rushes for 100yds. and if Brock ends the game with 0 tunovers.

Who is "we"? The overwhelming majority of 49ers fans love him.

There are a lot of 49ers fans who give Kyle grief for not winning a Superbowl.

Once the NFL slated Vinovich for this game, it means we will get zero penalties in the game. He was the same dirty ref who allowed KC to hold the entire Super Bowl that SF was dominating. I still remember the 3rd and 15 where every SF D lineman was being held so Mahomes could have 30 seconds to throw a 40 yard pass to a hill which changed the game and allowed KC to score.
