Well we scored 55 points wearing white jerseys.
I don't care what color jerseys they wear as long as they don't drop their pants.
Tom Brady and the Patriots won seven SB by wearing blue and white jerseys.
The team wearing white is 16-3 in the last 19 super bowls. Unfortunately we are one of the 3.

Didn't they every wear their home jersey?

Of course the Chiefs have chosen to wear their red uniforms, leaving us to wear our white road jerseys like we did in 2019. This gives them the psychological advantage:

In the arena of sports, the color red has been proven to put athletes at a distinct advantage. In 2005, sports psychologists Russell Hill and Robert Barton conducted a study examining the effect of the color red in 1v1 boxing, tae kwon do, Greco-Roman-wresting, and freestyle-wrestling matches in the 2004 Olympic Games.

I hope we beat them nonetheless!

Didn't help us in 2012. The team that wears white is like 16-4 in the last 20 SB's or something.
For the uniform superstition crowd you're golden. We're wearing white while playing in a dome (2-0) and we beat a team with blue uniforms in the NFC title game (5-0).

Right?

can someone remind me why kc is the team that gets to choose?

Designated home team and choice of what uniform is worn is based on the first two Super Bowls between the NFL and AFL (NFL being the older league was designated the "home team" for Super Bowl I:

Super Bowl I: Green Bay (NFL) wore dark "home" jerseys and Kansas City (AFL) wore white jerseys

Super Bowl II: Raiders (AFL) wore dark jerseys and Green Bay (NFL) wore white jerseys

After the leagues merged in 1970, the Super Bowl maintained the alternating rotation, this time with NFC and AFC.

NFC teams are the designated "home" team in odd-numbered Super Bowls: x1, x3, x5, x7, x9

AFC teams are the designated "home" team in even-numbered Super Bowls: x0, x2, x4, x6, x8

The designated "home" team has first choice of what color jersey to wear, practice facility, and I believe also team hotel in the host city/area of the Super Bowl (sole privilege of the visiting team is calling the coin toss).

Sometimes, the designated "home" teams opts to wear their white jersey instead of the expected dark "home" jersey instead, usually due to:

- white jerseys are their established "home" uniform (Cowboys, Redskins)

- superstition (like a team won all playoff games on the road wearing white: example 2005 Steelers), or a team had lost prior Super Bowls wearing dark jerseys (2015 Broncos, who didn't want to wear orange), or a team won the previous year's Super Bowl wearing white jerseys (2017 Patriots) and hoped to continue the "mojo"
REFERENCE) These are the uniforms the 49ers have worn in their 8 Super Bowl appearances:

YEAR / JERSEY / STADIUM (CITY) / SURFACE / (RESULT)

1981 / Standard White / Dome (Detroit) / Turf / (Win)

1984 / Standard Red / Outdoor (Palo Alto) / Grass / (Win)

1988 / Standard Red / Outdoor (Miami) / Grass / (Win)

1989 / Standard White / Dome (New Orleans) / Turf / (Win)

1994 / Throwback Red / Outdoor (Miami) / Grass / (Win)

2012 / Standard Red / Dome (New Orleans) / Turf / (Loss)

2019 / Standard White / *Outdoor (Miami) / Grass / (Loss)

2023 / Standard White / Dome (Las Vegas) / **Grass / (TBD)

*Miami stadium was renovated in 2015-16 to be partially covered with an open-air canopy

**Las Vegas stadium surface is natural grass that is mechanically-rolled in from outdoors for NFL games; artificial turf is used for college/UNLV football games

so don't care

The Patriots' Bellichick/Brady regime won 6 Super Bowls and appeared in 9 (11 total as a franchise):

• They beat the Rams in SB36 and Panthers in SB38 wearing navy blue jerseys; they also lost to the NY Giants twice (SB42 and SB46) wearing blue

• They beat the Eagles (SB39), Seahawks (SB49), Falcons (SB51) and Rams (SB53) wearing white jerseys. They lost to the Eagles (SB52) also wearing white.

• Prior to the Bellichick/Brady era, they also lost wearing red jerseys (SB20) and white jerseys (SB31).
The better record and seed should choose the jerseys. No reason the Chiefs should be handed the choice on some rotation. That's ridiculous. No fairness or logic to that. They also should not be given the choice of hotel. Vegas people on Instagram have called their hotel better than ours.

As the designated "home" team, they get first choice of hotel. They also get to use the Raiders practice facilities whereas the Niners use UNLV's I think.
