We know that k**e Shanahan drafted him.
Pretty true there.

He gets credit for the busts,... He gets credit for Brock.

Even if you buy the angle, it was only York saying take the guy highest on your board / draft grade. Not a specific take this Purdy kid type insight.

Yeach, in this case "push" seems to be strong language. He kinda just said let's step back and just simplify things because it's pick 262.

Regardless, Dr. York was never up to being a sports franchise owner. Just not his thing. On the other hand, he's helped countless people with his cancer research and overall medical career, so he has that going for him.

I didn't know John York even paid any attention to the draft. Why would he want them to draft Purdy? Does he know the family or something.?

How this was reported is being entirely blown out of proportion. Yes, Dr. York is in the war room during the draft and as far as I can tell several people in there definitely wanted Brock, including Griese, but some preferred the UDFA route. So the way I gather it, Dr. Y put in his 2c worth suggesting if a bunch of you guys really want this player then select him with this last pick don't wait for the chance of getting him as a FA, there's no guarantee of that. He wasn't "pounding the table" for Brock, more like urging ShanaLynch to pick him before the draft ended if that's who they really want. They mostly agreed they wanted him, just some preferred using that final pick and some didn't. Although it's kinda funny, Brock revealed leading up to SB he would've chosen the 49ers had he been UDFA.
