You guys have the feel-good story this year. If the last player chosen in the NFL draft ends up quarterbacking his team to a Lombardi Trophy, that would be cool. It would be like the last kid picked for a team in school winning it all. I'm impressed by Brock Purdy. When they were way down against the Packers in the playoffs, he kept a cool head and made the plays that his team needed to get back into it. No one on his team panicked either. Nowadays, you can watch any team in the league. That's a far cry from the 80s, when you pretty much had to take whatever games were being shown in your area. It was possible to go to a pub that had one of those giant satellite dishes, but pubs were full of smoke back then. Plus, you couldn't always get a seat.

I've been a Cowboys fan since 1971 and have never rooted for the 49ers in the Super Bowl before. This will be the first time. I would love to see this Brock Purdy guy get a ring. I used to live in Chico, California because I went to college there. Just how does a Texas-born Cowboy fan end up there? When I was 12, my dad, a pilot, got transferred to Honolulu. In Hawaii, it's considered normal to go to another state for college because there aren't that many choices in Hawaii. I was all set to go to West Texas State University (now known as West Texas A&M), but then I visited a friend at Chico state and fell in love with the place.

I met good people during my time in Chico. Obviously, a huge number of people there were 49er fans. However, even though I was for another team, we were all NFL football fans and could talk about the sport with no hard feelings. And, of course, I couldn't help but notice how well that organization is run. They've always had my respect. There have been many classic and close playoff games between our two teams, though not recently. Alas, in recently history, the Cowboys have been poorly run, which has resulted in them playing awful in the playoffs.

However, the 49ers going back to the big game has brought back memories of the good people I knew in California. Your team has earned its trip there. I'll be rooting for them to beat the Chiefs. My friends from out west will be thrilled if that happens. It's going to be a tough game because the Chiefs are also an exceptional team, but I think the 49ers can beat them. Best of luck to you guys.
