Nothing but losing. What's the point? It messes with my mental health and makes me unproductive at work and I neglect other areas of my life during football season.

I don't know what it's like to be a winner. You older folks should appreciate your memories because some of us don't have those.

That's the first thing I thought of...I got to see us win 5 Superbowls and some football fans have not seen one. It's still hard to see this and it still hurts bad even though I've seen them as a dynasty. I probably will not see them win again but being older you have a better chance. In the 70s they would get close and loose to the Cowboys it felt like this does. Don't give up you may see another one when I'm gone to Faithful heaven.

Not sure if that was inspiring or depressing as hell.

Quit.

This is an entertainment league not a sporting league. If you can't take it light and watch it purely for entertainment and smack talk you need to quit

I wanted us to win a Super Bowl SO BAD for our players who have gone through so much...and our fans, who are so loyal (packing away stadiums!).

But not so much for Kyle..... he's lucky to be gifted talented teams each playoffs he's entered.. and besides the Eagles ending, he's failed. If we would have came out and beat the Chiefs like we should have... our offense played with the intensity and drive as our defense did in the first half.. then yeah.. KYLE f**king deserved it, he had them READY! but if we beat the Chiefs like how we escaped vs the Packers and Lions... I would have been happy for the players and fans.. but not at the same level for Kyle. Still happy for him though.

I'm 42... I got to watch 3 Super Bowl wins. Don't remember the Dolphins one much, but remember the highlights as a kid and confused about the stadium when watching those highlights.... until later when I learned it was at Stanford stadium lol.

It's been tough ever since. Every loss, pain. Horrible horrible pain of what ifs. Close games.

I'll just say just remember what is important in life. After the Rams Title loss... I just kind of stepped away.

At the end of the day we have no control of the team... no control of the outcome... can't make suggestions...wouldn't be taken serious. So we have no control. Because of that, it's not your fault how our seasons end up. You shouldn't let it affect your mental health. Take care of what you need to... don't follow as hard, and it won't hurt as much.

I'm able to deal with it, because I saw all that s**t coming. I don't BS myself. I stay positive and hope for the best, but stay realistic. And there was nothing I could do about what ever decisions that happen. BUT if a fan is a blind homer, and just gobbles up what ever someone says to them (who might have financial incentive to be on their good side)... well then these kinds of fans are going to be in more pain + confusion. Mainly because they will do a lot of mental gymnastics to make excuses for Kyle and the team. Riding it out until next season and go through that same s**t again.

Basically don't take it too serious.... don't BS yourself. Take care of more important things that will make you happy, and are more beneficial to your life.

good, I'm not the only one who got that out of it.
I'm glad we played in the SB this year...

Go Niners
Yeah I feel like quitting too. My body can't take this much heartbreak. Rather be hopeless than get so close all the time.

Good post, bro.
Thanks for the responses. Yup I'm done, at least as a "diehard" fan. Really, nobody gives a s**t how hardcore or loyal you are as a fan. I wouldn't have gotten a ring if we won. It's f**king meaningless and I have squandered so much time and energy in my life on something that I have no control over.

I put all my Niner stuff in a hidden part of my closet. I'll still be a "Niner fan"…but really just as a casual. I have 4 warriors championships and 3 giants to look back on and say "I was a big fan of dynastic championship teams". Just not in football. But really who gives a flying f**k? Not I. Not anymore. If they're good again next year, I'll tune in and hope they win but I'm not going to be spending hours diving into film breakdowns or watching media rage bait about our QB/coach/team.

If the Niners never win again I do not f**king care anymore. It's not worth it to care.

Man STFU. You have 53K plus posts on this website trying to tell people "you need some help." Cope harder.

It's supposed to be fun. Losing tonight doesn't actually take away from the presumed enjoyment you got from all the hours you spent watching breakdowns etc.

Yeah man those players and coaches don't care what happens to us. Its ok to be bummed for a day or two but that's about it.

I am 100% in the same boat. I am done as a "big" 49er fan. I am also moving into the "casual" fan category.

No more attending games (I went to the NY Giants TNF game and Lions NFCCG this year).

No more listening to 95.7 the game. No more listening to Larry Krueger and Damon Bruce on YT. No more 49ers twitter with Lombardi and other beat writers.

No more WEBZONE.

I am done. Sunday's are no longer dedicated to football. No more fantasy football for me. No more anything NFL related. Sunday's are now open for me. If a family event or work calls, I will prioritize that. I would rather take my son to the park than watch a 49ers game.

good, I'm not the only one who got that out of it.

Sorry about that guys I'm just a realist. I'm older and don't see them winning in the next 25 30 years given how the last 25 to 30 years have gone. I'm just grateful I was around for the dynasty and got to witness that. You younger guys will witness the next dynasty I hope. Did not mean to depress anyone further.
