This is insta-ban material imo.
Why does Bill need to lower himself to work with a guy that has not won anything?

Yeah maybe Bill respects Kyle as a coach. Working under him is a very different story

IMO your response is what's dumb.

the guy isn't getting a HC job this year. That's a fact.

The OP's logic checks out. Everyone agrees it's highly questionable he'd take a step down, but it isn't impossible, at all, especially considering the relationship.
Belichick being our DC and winning a Super Bowl as our DC would be so weird after him being the Giants DC back in the late 80s/early 90s.

Rooney rule doesn't apply to coordinator hires only head coaching hires…

Well then we can interview Wilks on his way out and put a check mark next to it.
Bill has Andy Reid breathing down his neck in the all time win list. If he were to be a DC it would be for one year and I don't see the 49ers overhauling their defensive system for a 1 year DC.

Careful what you wish for. As a HC he had a losing record without Brady.

I think the short term answer is to see how Purdy develops in year 3. If he improves that might be enough to get over the hump.

Kyle will find a way to pull him down in the SB

The thought of Bill being DC crossed my mind today. He likes to run a 3-4 so that would most likely mean the wide nine is out.

It most certainly does. Head coach, GM, coordinators, and even QB coaches.

Wilks will get an exit interview. That checks the box.
