Sometimes I think it would be better to be lousy and not make the playoffs instead of being one or two plays away from winning the SB. At least then we wouldn't have all this second guessing every aspect of the game. I hate that the 49ers lost. I hate that it was that close only to be disappointed again.
But it's over. Time to move on and look forward to the draft. We don't need to keep debating every decision made during the game. It won't change the result.

Imo, it's like QB School, JTO will have the clicker and pause the game and say ok here is what SF is trying to do, here is what the D is running, here is where the ball should go. He's always good about saying he has the clicker, and can pause the pass rush, and talk 15 mins over a play. Course it's more challenge in the moment, with no clicker.
And just like we can review the game of the QB, we can review the game of the HC. If you look at Kyle, he has to be very harsh and judgmental of his players, that's what a good coach does, to review areas of improvement. Press, fans, owner, they all have to be critical of the HC and areas of improvement. Particularly when it's 10 point leads in 2 SBs and an NFCCG. That's a lot of rings we are leaving on the table. More than fair to ask why, and what is going wrong.

Except you're not JTO, not a former player, nor a coach. Your just a dumbass like the rest of us. Yet, you've got the "clicker" in your hand, no wait, it's not a clicker, it's a stick, and we're not looking at film, we're watching you beat a dead horse. It takes a lot to end up on my ignore list, but congrats you've made it.

You don't have to have played in the league, to have opinions on the WZ. If the requirement on here is you have to have played NFL football or coached it to comment, then you have have a completely blank WZ. I see ppl with that suggestion, and it's complete nonsense. It's just an excuse ppl pedal when they don't want ppl to be critical of coach.

That to me is ridiculous. We went through that dark age not too long ago and it was unwatchable and not fun. Don't want to be there again.
We aren't losing to the Panthers, we've lost 2 SBs against arguably the next great QB of all time, paired with a great HC too. Sometimes the other team is just better.
Did the Jazz get rid of Stockton or Malone because they couldn't beat MJ? There's such a thing in sports where somebody just happens to be a bit better. I can tell so many people here have never played sports and their mentality is so juvenile and thinking the world revolves around them. We could be in a much worse position. Kyle is not without blame, same with Purdy, OL, defense, etc. We aren't perfect and never will be. Pat/Reid isn't perfect either, but they are a little closer to being more perfect than us and sometimes that's all it takes.

Our offense should be able to score when it needs to and our offensive oriented head coach should be able to call appropriate plays to that end.
The challenge I see, and this is why 2nd possession is optimal imo, is when you take the ball first, you kick on 4th down (like we did). So you lose a down effectively.
When you get the ball second, you know what you need, which is why KC didn't even have a decision to make on 4th. They kept the O on the field. They got 4 downs to move it on us. And they needed that benefit to win the SB. We gave them that benefit.
If one gets into the analytics, there is a benefit to going first, but it relies on getting into 3rd possession (which would have been Q2 of OT in this game) to realize the benefit. If one thinks about it, it would be very hard to get to 3rd possession vs Mahomes. KC is going for 2, so they aren't matching your TD. Only match would be hold Mahomes to 0 if you score 0, or hold Mahomes to 3 if you score 3. That's hard (as we clearly saw).
We all know now, but there was no way for Kyle to know KC planned to go for 2 if they were down 7 and scored a TD on 2nd possession. It's a bit of information learned after the fact that couldn't be guaranteed to be factored into before. Analytics likely didn't make this assumption.
As I've said before, this is all now moot. No HC will ever elect to receive in Playoff OT ever again. This game will scare the daylights out of any HC going forward. The next 10 playoff OT games could be won by the team who gets first possession and all HC will still defer. It's still a *PERCEPTION* business more than it is a *STATISTICAL* one. It's why we still have so many punts when all analytics show you will score more points if you simply never punt.
Well first he could just research why every college head coach kicks it off in OT.
If he wants to ignore that, like Kyle probably would, he could have did some digging and found out that Andy Reid and the Chiefs reported in last training camp that if they were ever in an OT situation on the second possession, that they would go for two... (I heard that from a field reporter on ESPN)
Or he could have just used common sense when it comes to thinking what Andy F'n Reid and Pat F'n Mahomes would do on that second possession.
This all was his job... this is why he gets paid f**king millions..... this is unforgivable. Ridiculous.

Cant deny any of this. Kyle draws up great plays and is a great strategist, but his flaw is not considering the opposition, their skillset, and their mentality.

This was my thought. I knew when we only scored an fg, the likelihood of us winning went down significantly in my mind. I felt like Chiefs were definitely going to get a td so we better damn get one. I was disappointed with that last offensive drive. So disappointed, that it made me think the NFL is rigged again lol. I knew as soon as it was thrown on 3rd down, that it was a bad decision. Then we got only an fg. This was not going to be enough against the Chiefs. I feel like Kyle may never win an SB at this point. What sucks is Mahomes absolutely sucked in that SB but since they won, he gets compared to Brady (not even close) and Brock has comps to Kap lol. Just as I thought lol so predictable. I still don't think Mahomes is as good as the media glorifies him as. It is way over the top. Played mediocre to crap in three SBs and came out with lucky wins. But gets called best in the world . Our o-line sucked, CMC did his best at a Craig impression ugh and we only get a fg in OT. . I was disappointed that CMC didn't protect the ball better..I mean dude..it's the SB against the Chiefs defense..you gotta protect that ball. I was very impressed with our D and Moody. But in the end..we just failed to put up enough points. Maybe drunk Kyle would have won us the game lolol

I think the bounces were pretty even. We had the punt disaster. They had Mahomes throwing it straight to Brown. Both backs fumbled. So odd bounces kinda evened out. Where it was decided was Kyle making poor decisions. Like getting his key plays blown up with free rushers, and then hamstringing us in OT with 3 downs and KC gets 4. Also settling for FGs.
