Who will be the Niners new DC?-Rooney Rule Now Applicable

Was there ever HC calling offense and deffense?

Apparently Tom Landry used to be OC and DC as the Cowboys HC.

he can barely handle the offensive game plans, he constantly buckles under pressure
who knows? Sorenson could be a star DC up and comer. some people just need an opportunity.
Kinda hope it's Staley. Go into the season with two of the big chokers of this era. Like a double flip of the bird to the fball gods, see what happens..

Saleh says hello. He begged Kyle for opportunity to present a plan and interview. We know the rest. This may not be the splash everyone wants (there is no splash available as far as I am concerned) and probably a good choice. But if not we have the title of a new thread to b***h about for a couple of years! Yeah, kill two birds one stone.

Staley over Mortenson easily. Mortenson has limited experience as a DC. Its a no brainer.

Who the heck is Mortenson?

Offer him $15 mil a year, the way he coordinated that attack on Mordor was unbelievable. Frodo and Gandolf didn't even have to call a timeout to stop him from calling an all out blitz on.

Aragorn is a game manager at best. He's just surrounded by talent - Fellowship of the Ring, Kingdom of Gondor, High Elves of Rivendell, stud White Wizard, etc. He'll be found out eventually.

LOL 😆

They'll cancel each other out!

that's what I am thinking
Bill Bellicheat!!!
I'm sure it's been discussed ad nauseum, but the biggest reason that I don't want Brandon Staley (outside of personality concerns) is the mismatch between his 3-4 and our personnel our guys were drafted for a Seattle style 4-3. Could the guys make the switch? Possibly, but it would require a bit of a personnel and scheme overhaul, that even in the best case scenario would take at least half a year to adjust to.Outside of that I'm not sure we want to see Bosa dropping in coverage. It just seems like an even more disjointed fit than Wilks was ( at least he ran a version of a 4-3). I'm at the point where I'm hoping they find a way to pry Jeff Ulbrich from the Jets. I feel that he is a realistic target and fits in a lot of ways ( Linebacker background and experience with Carroll, Saleh, and Shanahan). If it's not him I can live with an in the building candidate, unless there is some under the radar interview that we haven't heard about yet.

no Staley, Bill or Vrabel more than likely with that info

This has been discussed in this thread and it is the primary reason I would be concerned if it's Staley. For me, it's not so much the Bosa dropping back into coverage thing - this would only happen occasionally. I used to chuckle watching Aldon drop back into coverage, he rarely ever got enough depth. My main concern is the run fits that Staley's scheme uses and whether the team can quickly integrate it.

If Staley is a good teacher and can get it all sorted out by midseason, great. But I do think this roster can "run it back" in 2024, so injecting a scheme overhaul into the equation makes things unpredictable as to whether or not the defense would be championship caliber.

Just talking about scheme, I think Bill/Vrabel are multiple enough that they can work with what they got. I don't think the same can be said of Staley.

Didn't the Rams use a 4-3 in 2020?

No. Staley is a Vic Fangio disciple.
