The #49ers are interviewing #Chiefs defensive backs coach David Merritt for their defensive coordinator position, sources say. Merritt, a longtime trusted assistant for Steve Spagnuolo, helped coach up KC's fourth-ranked pass defense this season.

👀
Very interesting.
This would be the best hire out of all the prospects so far in my opinion.
It would be AWESOME if he brought L'Jarius Sneed with him.
KC pundits are saying the Chiefs will let Sneed walk rather than pay him market value.
I like the idea of a Spag disciple, however, much of what Spag was able to do this past season was due to the fact he had three very good CBs that could play man or zone equally well. We don't have that quality in our secondary. Merritt would have some work to do.
They tagged him. It was on the Larry Krueger show this morning.

According to Chiefs fans on Reddit, Merritt was likely a big reason their CB's all played so well. Basically took late-round projects and turned them into gems.
This would be awesome for Merritt and a huge loss for the Chiefs. https://t.co/yGgAxRJQ33

So if it's between no DC experience candidates, who do you guys like?
Sorensen, Bullocks or Merritt?

Shanahan: So explain to me how you were able shut down my receivers, tight end, and brilliant play calling
Meritt: Simple. Your play calling in the passing game sucks some major ass. I didn't have to plan much since we knew exactly what you were callin because of lyour predictability. Why do you think you're 0-3 in Superbowls ?
Shanahan: Ummm... Joan, can you in bring Daniel Bullocks for his interview.
