Belichick doing TV. Boy that sounds exciting given the way he did his interviews as coach.
When Belichick talks football like on the top 100 list he oozes passion for football. I'll take that over people like LeSean McCoy, Nick Wright, Skip Baylee's and all those other shock jock "journalists".
It depends on what roll they give him. If he's just going to be one of a group of studio guys then he won't get much time.

I think he should go back to Division III football where he belongs,"
"Look, this guy. Look at his resume, man. I mean, I'm sorry. He spent one year coordinating a team that my wife could coach with Aaron Donald and all those guys," Ryan added.
"Stop it. And trust me, she'd do a hell of a lot better job than this guy's doing with his defense.

Big red flag. How many years was he a DC before getting the Chargers HC job? 1?
People who know football better than all of us saw him as a defensive minded prodigy that was a rising star in football after that 1 year. Like I said it's a boom/bust hire imo. He could be another DC like Wilks who we part ways with quickly. But if he can get our Defense to be the top D he probably wouldn't be looked at as a HC for a few years with how disastrous his time with the Chargers was.

I think so also. It's a big boom/bust hire for sure
I don't think he would be as bad as hire as most make him out to be.

My hesitation is with how it's a scheme change and the uncertainty that comes with that - to a team that is looking to pick up where they left off. Plus, this scheme has been proliferating around the league the past 4ish seasons. Like how we saw the "Seattle Cover3" get studied and adapted to, so is this scheme. Maybe it's a moot point and Staley is able to evolve from it. Maybe he can't and is unable to teach it well enough for this defensive roster to play up to its ability.

That's true, no denying that. Could it be the case that he had too much on his plate and is better off just focusing on one side of the ball?
The optimist in me thinks that's very possible. That he wasn't able to just plan D and wasnt able to balance everything he had going on. The pessimist in me thinks he rode Wade Phillips wake and Aaron Donald's talent to a Head Coaching spot.

Staley just focusing on defense while Shanahan focuses on just offense could be a win-win situation. Shanahan has never had that in his coordinator before, sure Saleh and Ryans were awesome but I'm sure Shanahan always checked in. Honestly wouldn't be mad if Staley is hired, but I would like to see Chris Kiffin over Staley.
