this was Rex Ryan on Staley, from ESPN:

I think he should go back to Division III football where he belongs,"

"Look, this guy. Look at his resume, man. I mean, I'm sorry. He spent one year coordinating a team that my wife could coach with Aaron Donald and all those guys," Ryan added.

"Stop it. And trust me, she'd do a hell of a lot better job than this guy's doing with his defense.

Rex Ryan, come on down...send Staley to the landfill in Milpitas so he can manage waste!

Rex was always so overrated. I'd take Staley over him.

Dude called Shanny out on his BS playcalling and inability to call a good offensive game.

He just went way up on my rankings for who should be DC, certainly higher than Bullocks or Sorensen.

I guess you see why he's only been a DB coach for the last decade. He definitely ain't getting the DC job here. Dude really called BA "Aiko or whatever." The disrespect.

I was digging everything he said prior to that. Don't disrespect our #1 WR like that.

Belichik woul've put us over the top as favorites in the NFC. Since we struck out on him, I'm predicting a SB hangover year next year. No more yes men, I'd love someone that puts Shanny in his place. The fireworks with Merritt would be entertaining.
LMAO.

Well, this guy (Merritt) is out at DC.

Heck yeah. You want someone who's gonna be honest with kyle and not just say what he wants to hear
Kyle don`t seem to be that type of guy to take constructive criticism ,maybe if he did he would score more points in a critical game instead of getting out to a 10 point lead and thinking his D can and should hold that 10 point lead for the rest of the game same s**t he did 2019 against the same QB....Kyle is stubborn as a Missouri Mule

I personally would like a defensive guy that would set Kyle straight about running his own defense. He'd tell Kyle to put up points and leave the defense to him. Get outta my face and do your side of the ball and I'll do mine

Now that has to be measured because Kyle is still HC, but I always thought it was a stretch to hire Wilks and then tell him that he needs to run our defense and not his own

Exactly. Enough of the yes men that Shanny keeps calling for. We need someone that will take ownership of his unit, and when the offense s**ts its pants, calls them and the coaching out on it. I know a lot of Shanafans don't want to see the savior criticized and will spin it with words like "turmoil" and "disarray", but that's the kind of coach we need. Someone to hold others, both coaches and players, accountable.

Definitely a better option than Sorensen or Bullocks, but Kyle probably threw his resume into the shredder by now.

I bet he used the DC opportunity to troll Shanahan and the 49ers to their face. Neat

Was the DC interview before or after his talk show comments?

I'm guessing the DC interview was after the talk show comments. Unless his interview went to s**t and he really doesn't give a damn about getting our DC spot.

Just tells you that he's not very involved in gameplanning. He's been an assistant coach for 20 years and has had fewer coordinator interviews than Jim Tomsula during that time.

The talk show comments were last week. The DC interview was two days ago.

This is one of those "look a journalist went back in time and dug something up!" stories.

Sometimes the truth hurts, but he didn't come across as a coordinator level mind when I read that. I like his story, but youd think after 20 years he paid attention to more than just his DB's and I wonder if he has that kind of mind etc. Some guys like Merritt or Kocurek are best fit managing a unit.

The Chiefs biggest receiving weapon ( Kelce ) had 9 receptions for 93 yards whilst the 9ers biggest receiving weapon ( Kittle ) had 2 receptions for 4 yard.

I am on the record that Kittle has been criminally underused by Kyle during his career.
