Why would Spagnuolo leave KC, where he's a hero, to move laterally to SF?

He was a FA for a hot sec. They let him play out his contract before giving him an extension

Damn, that story is a total tease
Yeah unfortunately but if true it shows they were going balls to the wall reaching out to both Spags and Belichick.

Great now this is turning into a qb thread. And the guy from KC's comments weren't classless they were the truth. That moves the guy up on my list. I can tell he's not about the b******t

That he doesn't have any clue who Aiyuk is just tells me that he's limited in his spectrum of responsibility and not heavily involved in the gameplanning like you would expect a coordinator in waiting to be.

Says that he's just a position coach who will forever be a position coach because no team is going to entrust him with anymore responsibility than that.

Lynch said by the end of the week. Today we probably hear something

When did he say this?

Shanahan on Monday said he expects to have it wrapped up by the end of the week, not Lynch.

They are suppose to talk to one more outsider correct? Merrit is one, who will be the other?

There was a rumor from one of those iffy Twitter accounts saying we were talking to Marquand Manuel from the Jets. No idea how legit that is.

My god, it's looking like Staley and Sorenson are thee two best choices out there, judging from what they're bringing in or rumored to be bringing in. What is it with all these DB coaches, where's the LB and D-line coaches at, Chris Kiffin and Brendan Daly. Both have coached LB and DL and I thought that's what the 49ers wanted, better communication with Warner and the LB's?

Yeah I don't get the DB guys. I mean if a guy is talented he's talented. But especially in hindsight Wilks was an odd fit because you have a guy who prioritizes the back 4 coming to a defense that has always prioritized the front four.

Wilks was a bad fit because as his track record shows he's a bad DC,he should stick to being a DB coach that's were he excels.

The issues Wilks had have popped up at every destination he's been at. Wilks struggles to use a complete defense because he is not a good defensive coordinator. He's a very good secondary coach and nothing more.
I'm a fan of this regime but man this is concerning. Maybe we should of kept that bum Wilks

Maiocco just said they need to do one more Rooney interview still. That would seem to mean that it's not happening today.

Bullocks and Merritt. I'm pretty sure the Rooney rule is done.

Nope. Must be two outside minority candidates.

Nope. For the 49th time, internal candidates do not count.

Thanks for the clarification. I can only go so far back in some of these threads.
Has the rule always been 2 candidates? I thought it was just 1 at one point.

They added an additional one a year or two ago.
