Yeah I don't get the DB guys. I mean if a guy is talented he's talented. But especially in hindsight Wilks was an odd fit because you have a guy who prioritizes the back 4 coming to a defense that has always prioritized the front four.

The issues Wilks had have popped up at every destination he's been at. Wilks struggles to use a complete defense because he is not a good defensive coordinator. He's a very good secondary coach and nothing more.

Should've went Chris Harris (Titans assistant).

Lynch said by the end of the week. Today we probably hear something

When did he say this?

Shanahan on Monday said he expects to have it wrapped up by the end of the week, not Lynch.

They are suppose to talk to one more outsider correct? Merrit is one, who will be the other?

There was a rumor from one of those iffy Twitter accounts saying we were talking to Marquand Manuel from the Jets. No idea how legit that is.

Personally I'm hoping for Merritt (assuming there are no other hidden candidates). And his talk show segment isn't a minus for me.

By all accounts he'd be a very good hire.

Absolutely. Enough of the Shanny boot lickers. How about someone that will think for themselves and hold players accountable…

Yeah not what I meant but carry on lol

Its a stupid rule. IMO. Teams could just interview just to satisfy the rule, instead of hiring the best candidate. I understand that the NFL does its best for equal opportunity, but if that's the case why stop there, they should make teams interview female candidates too.

Another DB coach.

I think this guy and dude from the Chiefs were rooney rule interviews. Get ready to be totally underwhelmed with the hiring of Sorenson. I agree they need someone from the outside.

Racist thinking. What about the 49ers assistant coaching hiring practices speak to them interviewing to satisfy the Rooney rule? All the diverse coaches and front office guys getting bigger jobs elsewhere after a chance here?

Maybe for us but it really does help get these lesser known black coaches names out there. Even though they are rarely hired. And if there were tons of women in the sport that couldn't get the opportunity just b/c they were women then they would probably have a rule for them as well.
Raiders safety coach? Is the well dry?

It's called reality bro. They aren't hiring these dudes. And just b/c they gave 2 rooney rule interviews doesn't in anyway offset all the positives this team has had with minority coaches. But if you really think either of these dudes has a legit shot at being hired then i believe you are just wrong. I really want them to hire the guy from the Chiefs or Lynn from USC. And I don't think they won't hire them b/c they are black. It's b/c they are going to hire Sorenson.
I'm expecting Sorenson or Vrabel.

Same. Gotta be one of them.
Why Vrabel? They haven't interviewed him?

I don't think Merritt was a sham interview. This new guy? Maybe.

Ok tick tock…
