I think offering a demotion is worse than firing lol

Thing here is I don't know if Kyle will hire an ex HC.

Anthont Lynn

He just was hired by the commanders

His point is that Lynn was a former HC that Kyle brought in.

Steve Wilks has quite the resume. It was reported that Shanahan had quite a bit of respect for him prehire. It may have been a scenario where the 49eres were hoping to fill DC while also continuing to play the compensatory pick game and hoping Wilks would get hired right away while having Bullocks still on staff to hand over the reins to this year.

There is no game. Kyle isn't hiring someone just to gain a pick. They were doing this before comp picks were even an incentive.
Why don't we hire Tay Tay Swift as our defensive co-ordinator. At least we will get record numbers watching our games.

Blank (ATL owner) denied that report

if we hired him Belichick wouldn't' have to deal with the media and this Defense is as talented as any he's coached
and he reportedly likes Kyle, something insiders have claimed since the Garoppolo trade

I agree with that. "You move on from Wilks and then you go for someone that is untested. So it definitely needs to be an upgrade." With that said I like the coaches that have resumes like BB, Vrabel, Carroll, Schwartz (If available).

yup

despite what fans think, Wilkes wasn't a horrible DC, we fired him because there are better options out there
I don't think there's any way we hire a young up-and-comer to replace Wilkes, it's far too risky, they need a sure thing

so that would mean Belichick, Vrabel, Flores, Carroll or Rivera, and I would be surprised if it's either of the latter two

the one exception would be someone from within like Bullocks - but I doubt it

Unless they realized that they should've hired him since Wilks, even with his better resume, wasn't what they expected

He now has learned off 3 DCs and is part of the reason why some of the DBs got better

Think it could be mentioned that if they realized they should have hired him in the first place, he could have been promoted in some form or fashion in season.
Good point

Yeah, I get the sense he likes Lynch/Shanahan, the pieces on this defense and I'm sure sweet talking Lynch already had a conversation with him about helping our D.
Anyway, it will be interesting the next days or weeks ahead who we get for the next DC.

I'm sure BiliCheat can make a difference... but we lost the last 2 Super Bowls not because of our DC.. it's because of our HC..
