Who will be the Niners new DC?-Rooney Rule Now Applicable

I don't think you're getting BB, so please get Pete. I think he would be an amazing hire for the 49ers' personnel / scheme. And 17+ weeks of his punchable face? Love it!

SB winning HC's don't go back to being coordinators. They become HC's elsewhere, go on TV or retire.

Carroll and Belichick may like and respect Kyle but that doesn't mean they want to work for him.

If anyone was out of line it was Moon.

Yah I kinda lost my cool there though. My frustration level is high after that Super Bowl loss and just tired of people spamming the board with Shanahan slander.

My guess is that he goes internal (Bullocks)

That would suck. And another sign that this organization isn't serious about winning a Super Bowl, only losing them.

Um, not even the Raiders are on those lines. I don't know if Bullocks has the potential and neither, I suspect, do you.
They obviously didn't think he had the ability last year or the ability to replace Wilks mid season so what's changed?

I don't think Carroll or Belichick want to sit out of football and be a TV talking head. And I don't see them retiring. If they don't become consultants for a team I expect one of them to lower their ego and become a DC. With that said I expect Mike Vrabel to become the DC and think he'd fit in well with his Ohio st. connection to Bosa and Young.

But hey, I understand my response bothered you, so my apologies. I respectfully disagree with folks who have the opinion that we could do better than Kyle or that he should be fired. I acknowledge he isn't perfect, but no one else would be either.

No clue what he's even upset about…weird imo.

He was probably talking about me and not OTC.

He specifically said "@OnTheClock" tho

Sorry bro I know you meant no harm, you're like the stray that got caught in a crossfire.

ANYWAY!!!! Moving on.

My top 5 DC candidates (in no particular order):

Mike Vrabel
Rex Ryan
Bill Belichick
Pete Carroll
Ron Rivera

Brandon Staley would be cool and wouldn't be mad, but not in my top 5.

Think Rivera would be any good? I don't like the idea of Staley either, but all of those other names makes me so warm and fuzzy I'm already juiced for next season.

Well when he was a DC he had top 5 defenses. So that's all good in my book and he's really not that old. Plus he runs a 4-3 so that's a huge plus.

And no one would want Ron as a head coach ever again. That's a plus.
I don't think Pete Carroll wants to be DC either at this stage of his career. If he is not going to get a HC role, he might as well just retire.

Yah I think his head coaching days are pretty much over. Only way he becomes a head coach again is with the interim title.

Like I said in the other thread, Pete Carrol is my number one. Don't think he'll be jumping to a HC gig anytime soon, so continuity will be a possibility. Despite his age, has the personality to be on the field. Tons of experience, including building one of the best defenses in our generation. Clear number one with regards to the previous HCs out there.

Yep, he is also my #1 choice!

You have a handful of the same bots going into every thread and spamming the same clown takes, f**king children
lol everyone in this thread dreaming about all these former head coaches with deep playoff run experience suddenly deciding to be a defensive coordinator.

You will get "who's that?" from "where?" and you will like it.

And I'm okay with that. Kyle seems to do better with those types anyways. I'd be fine with Kiffin or Lynn as first time coordinators. Would be cool with Vrabel too.

Couple more names from Barrows

Chris Kiffin, Houston Texanslinebackers coach Kiffin checks two big boxes. He spent two seasons in San Francisco (2018 and 2019) and he coaches linebackers. He also advocated for one of the players he coached in college, Azeez Al-Shaair, as an undrafted free agent in 2019 (it turned out to be a steal) and worked with Kris Kocurek and the defensive line during his time in San Francisco. He spent 2023 helping Ryans run a similar defense in Houston.

Marquand Manuel, New York Jets safeties coach Manuel ran the Atlanta Falcons' defense from 2017 to 2018 and before that was a Falcons assistant at the same time Shanahan was in Atlanta. More than that, Manuel is a Carroll disciple who got his first coaching job with the Seahawks in 2012. He's spent the last three years coaching under another Carroll protege, Saleh, in New York.

Cory Undlin, Texans defensive passing game coordinator There are a lot of former 49ers defensive assistants scattered around the league. Undlin, who was in San Francisco in 2021 and 2022, stands out because he's also a former defensive coordinator — for the Detroit Lions in 2020. Other former 49ers assistants around the league include Jets linebackers coach Mike Rutenberg and Jets senior defensive assistant Tony Oden.

I like the sounds of Chris kiffin, he's also the son of monte kiffin. I just see us getting someone from our own lineage - even if it's from the current staff of demeco.

i thought demeco did an excellent job of balancing aggressiveness/normal in his play calling. I'd prefer someone from his coaching tree that was here before. Similar system and understands the culture.
what is our base system? I am serious.
Next question: Who is familiar with our base defense. Or, if easier, who is absolutely not.
Alternative question: Do we have the personnel to transfer to a different system?
