Seeing that Brandon Staley only had one year as a DC and then had a s**tty ass defense with the Chargers, I'd take a hard pass. Chargers had some talent on defense too and so I don't know how such a supposedly great defensive coach would have such a terrible defense. I'd stay away from the guy and I sure hope they hire someone else.
Steve Spagnuolo was DC with the Giants for 2 seasons. They ranked 7th and 5th. He was hired in St Louis to be the head coach, goes 10-38 in 3 seasons with defenses ranked 29th, 19th and 22nd. And after this year people think he should be in the HOF as an assistant coach.
Spags career is an outlier and not the the norm tbh.
Weren't they legit the worst team in football when he signed up? They drafted Bradford at 1 and then he did what he always does and got hurt.
Dude had a couple years to build his scheme, which requires certain guys. That NY D was full of studs on the DL. They actually called holding back then lol.
Staley comes off as a tool imo. I don't think he's a culture fit either. Also if Kyle is looking for someone that actually calls a similar scheme that we've run in the past. Not sure why he rolls with Staley? also I'm pretty sure the Bosas' aren't a fan of him.
Feel like it will be a young up and coming defensive mind that has some roots within this scheme.
