I think overall Vrabel presents the right kind of intensity. He's also very detail oriented and his defenses have given the Chiefs in particular a lot of trouble at times. I do appreciate his heavy emphasis on stopping the run and forcing teams into a lot of 3rd and very difficult situations.

Out of all that's out there, I think he might really be the best fit.

I thought Vrabel ran a 3-4 though? With Bosa wouldn't that be hammering a square peg into a round hole?

Now do Staley. So we can feel a little better if we hire him.

There is no way I can sit and watch him chomp that gum EVERY WEEK. 2 times a year was already too many

Yeah, but now he'll be chomping it FOR us! Er.... now we'll be the gum he's chomping! I mean... now it's us chewing him! Metaphor!

He was good when he was DC for the Niners previously.

I don't particularly care how good he was when I was in diapers.

What was the chargers rankings under Staley?

Wow, I feel sorry for you. You've never got to experience the Niners winning Super Bowls.
i had wished for more of a perfect fit like Schwartz but he's not available. i had voted for Vrabel originally. He's a good intense coach. I read some of the same articles that people later posted. I then was worried about the scheme fit with a 3-4 and that he might not be here for more than a year.

i had saw talk he wanted to interview for the Dallas opening so he'd take the DC if true. There was the talk about him being intimidating and scaring off tams. maybe that would keep him with us longer.

it seemed like as he went at Tenn, he wanted to evolve to multiple fronts and coverages. He had Schwartz there as an assistant at one time.
Hopefully, that exposure would mean he'd be OK running a 4-3 wide 9 system as base. Maybe we can incorporate other things into our D also.
He's still who i'd be most excited about.

I'd be fine with him as DC. His mid-90s 49er years have little to do with it. His track record since then is far more relevant.

I think it's okay to play Bosa as an OLB on some downs. The important aspect is they remain a one gapping front.

Outside of the would-be rookie DCs that I don't recognize, I think Vrabel makes a lot of sense if he and Kyle can work together. He's the right amount of fiery and tough that this defense can relate to. And I like his willingness to mix things up both in coverage and his fronts. What I don't know is how much of a hand he had in TEN's defensive gameplanning. Was he very involved or just oversee the weekly gameplan from his DC?

Yeah, some of us don't know what the glory days were like. I was 4 during Super Bowl 29. I know I watched it with my family, but don't have any recollection of it. Nothing but letdown wash and repeat for us mid 30s and younger.

You're right. The last time they won was one year before I was born.

I have to explain this to everyone who asks why I was so devastated last Sunday night.

That's my point though (That 1 is when he was a DC not a HC, though). Seems to me the same pros and cons can be applied to both
