Kyle said about wanting to run the same scheme that they have the players for and are familiar with, so I'm thinking Bullocks and I'm fine with that, was a fan of his as a player and I did read things about him having a bright coaching future

Interesting. I missed that part. I wonder if they take a look at Tony Oden, who is currently with Saleh in NY.

Yeah, I could see it being Bullocks or someone on Saleh or Ryan's current staff. Vrabel sounds nice, but I don't know if he runs the same system.
Kinda shocking that wilks didn't have a mantra like "all gas, no brakes". I think not having that kind of things actually contributed to the lack of effort thing, that and I feel like players weren't too high on him.

i liked the hiring initially but yeah, obviously not the right fit
Doesn't Vrabel run a 3-4?

I remember back in 2017 Shanahan was considering Vrabel as the new DC, but then the Texans promoted him to DC, removing him from the equation. I wouldn't be surprised if he still would be interested in him.

the only year Vrabel was a DC (2017), the Texans finished dead last in defense.

Both DE (including Watt who was the heart) and their starting DT went on IR that year with several games left in the season. Before that he was involved with developing several all-pros and a nasty front 7 as LB's coach for the Texans. Context matters.

We have the horses to play a 3-4, just need a NT.

Hargrave and Bosa are better fits in the 4-3 though.

Shifting to what BAL/KC does is less of a schematic change than shifting to what Brandon Staley (and anyone else from the Fangio tree) does. You can draft man CBs, and they alreayd have one with Mooney.
Asking the DL to learn 1.5 gapping techniques and shifting to five man front is a much bigger adjustment to what the 49ers have been doing the past 7 years. The reads for the off ball LBs also change. The coverage schemes are similar to what they've been doing.

Hell naw. I'm not sure why folks are so stuck on Fangio's system as if it's the only one that works. I'd rather do what Bmore and KC are doing. Saleh and DR defenses had us in the same losing boat as Wilks's defenses. I think we need new blood from outside of the building and outside of the Saleh/DR scheme.
Ron Rivera. Don't even say the words Brandon Staley. Wow.

What about getting away from the Wide-9?

Most the quality DC's that we're all familiar with that are available play a 3-4 scheme unfortunately

I'm sorta in favor of that. Idk, maybe I'm just bias cause we had a struggling season upfront this year but I don't love the wide 9.
it's Belichick
