After going through what he did and wasting a season with a DC that didn't fit in with your plans, wouldn't you take your time?

These are NFL coached you're talking about. You don't think they've done at least a little research on players they'd like to draft, they're also fans of football too.

Gee I did not think of that thanks

Watch The Dynasty on apple tv about the Patriots. Belichik is available. If Jed and John York want to win it all, you make it happen. In Belichik's first Lombardi, it's late in the 4th and his defense is gassed vs. the greatest show on turf. Instead of killing the clock and playing it safe in OT, he decides to go for it. Brady marches down the field, Vinateri makes the kick and they win.

Our coach would've bled the clock, like in 2019 before the half. This year, Tig Brown makes an amazing int on our side of the field and we go 3 and out. In the 3rd quarter, we abandon the run and have multiple 3 and outs. Shanny blew it in the big game, twice. Not very often a defensive genius, head coach of a dynasty becomes available. He know AFC teams by heart and I believe he can neutralize Andy Reid and the Chiefs with our defense. With him, I believe he makes our Defense unstoppable and if we remain healthy, we win it all. Without him, next year we have a SB hangover year. Make it happen Yorks.

Don't have to have a DC for the combine. Shanny isn't even going to it.
If Kyle and the FO are worried how their decision might come off, especially after losing the Super Bowl..and firing the coach who did well for most of that Super Bowl..

Then maybe a sneak announcement is made at 5pm today (Friday)...... with hope that other news this weekend drowns out their announcement.

lol since when is announcing anything on a Friday considered sneaking it in?

there isn't s**t to talk about regarding the NFL right now…it will be news regardless of when it's announced.
Man ya'll are worried wayyyy too much about who he hires…dude has one of the best track records with coaching staffs/hires in the league.

it's not like Wilks was some epic failure. They still had a top 5 D. We've just grown accustom to having really really high expectations there. We could have kept Wilks and still had a damn good D. I'm glad Kyle said that still wasn't good enough.

end of the day it comes down to trust. Kyle doesn't want to have game plan as much has he did on both sides of the ball. He doesn't want to have to take over play calling on D. He wants to trust the guy is gonna call the right plays and his players are gonna have total faith in their DC. Maybe that's as easy as an internal hire. Maybe it's an outside guy that he's worked with at some point.

I totally agree. Absolutely trust Kyle with this hire. Lynch will have serious input too.

As to the bold, if he does go in-house, Kyle will be even more involved like he was with Saleh during all his early trials and tribulations. Obviously that might be one step back to ensure two steps forward after a year or two but that'll be a calculated choice, no doubt.

That seems reasonable to me

IDK, kind of disagree here. This is a big move. If he hired a better DC last year we would be superbowl champs right now.

I doubt very much that they give a crap about what anyone outside the building thinks. They'd be in the wrong line of work if they did.

It will be interesting. In house could work, but makes you wonder why not last year as NY said? External could prove good or just another underwhelming year as well. I hope they get it right and believe Lynch has big input on this for sure.

Wilks was a bomb tho. IMO we were a top 5 d in spite of him. Its hard to come in an use a half baked scheme imo. So in hindsight it was dumb by both parties. I get it, but when the dude was throwing cookie cutter looks at Mahomes in a SB OT I said F this guy bro, and I like the man.
