Who will be the Niners new DC?-Rooney Rule Now Applicable

Watch The Dynasty on apple tv about the Patriots. Belichik is available. If Jed and John York want to win it all, you make it happen. In Belichik's first Lombardi, it's late in the 4th and his defense is gassed vs. the greatest show on turf. Instead of killing the clock and playing it safe in OT, he decides to go for it. Brady marches down the field, Vinateri makes the kick and they win.

Our coach would've bled the clock, like in 2019 before the half. This year, Tig Brown makes an amazing int on our side of the field and we go 3 and out. In the 3rd quarter, we abandon the run and have multiple 3 and outs. Shanny blew it in the big game, twice. Not very often a defensive genius, head coach of a dynasty becomes available. He know AFC teams by heart and I believe he can neutralize Andy Reid and the Chiefs with our defense. With him, I believe he makes our Defense unstoppable and if we remain healthy, we win it all. Without him, next year we have a SB hangover year. Make it happen Yorks.

You mention after the Brown INT the Niners went 3 and out. Do you really think Kyle sat there and said "lets go 3 and out boys that was fun!!!" Then you mention we abandon the run later on. So which is it, not aggressive enough or too aggressive?

Surely you wouldnt be the guy complaining if they didnt abandon the run and was stuffed 3 times in a row. I just find it interesting no one criticizes play calling if they work, only if they don't.

They had the ball at KC 45 after the INT. At the minimum you start off with a run that's common sense. 3 passes in a row followed by 8 of 9 in the next 3 drives is unimaginable but Kyle found a way to pull it off. You took away the team's strength and played into the opponent's strength. What did Snead say after the game? We wanted the ball in Purdy's hands. What did Ward say after SB 54 ? We wanted the ball in Jimmy's hands. Two times in four years Kyle fell for it. What's that saying again….fool me once shame on you fool me twice….

It will be interesting. In house could work, but makes you wonder why not last year as NY said? External could prove good or just another underwhelming year as well. I hope they get it right and believe Lynch has big input on this for sure.

Wilks was a bomb tho. IMO we were a top 5 d in spite of him. Its hard to come in an use a half baked scheme imo. So in hindsight it was dumb by both parties. I get it, but when the dude was throwing cookie cutter looks at Mahomes in a SB OT I said F this guy bro, and I like the man.

Hiring Wilks doesn't mean they didn't like the internal candidates last season. They liked what they saw in Wilks, took a swing, and it didn't work out. it happens

Gee I did not think of that thanks

Aside from your sarcasm why is it important to get the DC hired before the Combine?

It really doesn't matter. They'll have all the data to review later and they'll still be able to setup in person visits with prospects as well.

Agree. Wilks is a leader of men, a lot of those Panthers wanted him to be their HC. His resume may have seemed more enticing than anyone in house at the time. Also, I don't think there were many DCs available while Shanny/Lynch were looking and they may have believed Wilks was capable of learning/adapting fast. Like you mentioned, "took a swing, and it didn't work out. it happens"

Daniel Bullocks and Johnny Holland were day ones with Shanny and both have been around 3 different DCs now. They know what Shanny wants, they seen the great things and not so great things with all three DCs. I wouldn't be opposed with either guy even tho neither one would be my first choice.

Maybe his mind is onto something and he's wired differently, he might think ppl could get shot at the combine but hiring a DC soon will prevent that

I wonder if they ever knocked on Zimmer's door last season.

If its common sense to run do you not think KC knew that too and thats why they stacked the box? Common sense sounds like ole Jimmy Raye's offsense. Run, Run, & then a draw out of shotgun. That'll confuse them!!!

I could only imagine so, and if they did, I couldn't come up with a good reason why no hire there.

We just got the best DC. Cap space to add something to the defense

Jimmy Raye's offense was largely influence by Mike Singletary.
I think if there was an in house candidate who just killed it, he would have been hired already. My money is on someone coming into the organization.
