This. Would have been a week ago. The logic around this being internal makes zero sense, it's half assed speculation at best.

whats with the ulbrick talk, wouldn't it be a lateral move for him and Jets can block it?

This is what I don't get.
If we can just poach someone's DC, why not go all the way and hire Schwartz? Matter of fact let's go steal Spags! He loves our QB!

Think it has to do with attaching that assistant HC title to the DC role and that being considered a promotion

I'm kind of leaning towards Staley at this point.
If he does well, he can be our Spags in the sense that no one will want him as a head coach.
Anthony Lynn's son sounds like a good candidate too.

Have any NFL tv personalities disappeared? Specifically those on the defensive side of the ball?

D'Anton Lynn would be a pretty exciting hire imo

HC and playcalling coordinator are the only two recognized promotions.

Gee I did not think of that thanks
Aside from your sarcasm why is it important to get the DC hired before the Combine?
Tell me why not just saying there are 2-sides of this situation Ok would not be a head start on getting players looked at in living color(up close and personal) for the new DC... oh I could be wrong just like You could be right

So since Jeff would be getting play calling duties, as opposed to working for a defensive coach, that would open him up as a option then?

Browns can't block it if it is a promotion. The assistant HC title would be one…
