And if it's coming from the inside what's the hold up supposedly those interviews have been completed.

Be careful I was told that Kyle should take his time to get it right when I stated the same thought,"what the heck is the hold up" it ain`t rocket science!

Um I didn't say he should take his time. If you're gonna talk s**t at least get it rights.

If its common sense to run do you not think KC knew that too and thats why they stacked the box? Common sense sounds like ole Jimmy Raye's offsense. Run, Run, & then a draw out of shotgun. That'll confuse them!!!

Wasn't it a laser gun
Jimmy Raye's offense was largely influence by Mike Singletary.

Ridiculous at best

Honestly I'd take Staley over Wilks and that just might be the case. Not that I'm advocating for it, my guy is Vrabel, but why don't you want Staley? People can look to LAC and how he ran that place, but Staley wouldn't be in charge in SF. So what's to worry??

Recency bias. Staley was a horrible head coach. His defenses underperformed in LA. And he lost the players trust.

But as pointed out, Spags and Schwartz were both horrible head coaches with bad records, but excellent coordinators. Staley was DC for only one year in LA, but his unit ranked tops in a lot of categories. For reference, Vrabel was also DC for one year as well.

The advantage with Staley is he's not getting a HC gig anytime soon. And hopefully he coaches an aggressive brand of defense which this defense is built for…

Agreed, a lot of guys just can't run a whole company and are only good at running one department. I wouldn't be against Staley and I rather it be him than some in house replacement add the fact there's a great chance Staley never becomes a HC again and we don't have to replace him in a year or 2

Has Bill Bellicheat been anounced as the DC yet?

dude isn't coaching this yr, especially as a DC. He's eyeing HC gigs next yr and helping his son out

Mike Vrabel it is.

I saw somewhere the other day that he's not coaching this yr

Okay yup. I'm officially concerned. There is zero reason to not have this done by now.

We really fired Wilks three days after the Super Bowl with no solid plan Either we didn't have a replacement in mind (which is ridiculous) or our #1 choice fell through (which means probable downgrade).

I think Kyle thought we would win the SB and that would justify keeping Wilks around. There was no contingency plan even though for good portions of the season it was evident Wilks was not a good fit. Now that we lost to a half assed Kansas City team, Kyle is scrambling to put the pieces together. We lost a good GM to Washington, and a handful of coaches to other teams. Anything outside a big splash proven candidate will look suspect at best. This is just bad news all around….

These are probably the same fans booing Alex Smith off the field chanting we want Carr. You can quote Singletary on the field saying Jimmy run the ball more through the headset. Its facts at best
Pete Carroll or Mike Vrabel top my list. Not sure exactly what defense Vrabel runs but I know he's a heck of a coach. Pete is The Godfather of the defense that Saleh originally brought here and then Demeco took over. It would be nice to get back to our roots on that side of the ball and who better than the OG?

Pete would make sense if he's willing to take a back seat. In most cases a guy that's been a HC doesn't want to do that but Pete and Belichick are both over 70 and each has won at least one SB. They may be at the stage of their life where they are willing to step back and just coach the part of the game they love the most. Neither needs the money or the extra stress that comes with being HC.
Didn't they use to praise Sean McVay like he was a genius for hiring Wade Phillips? I don't see why they wouldn't heap a similar amount of praise in Kyle's direction if we hired Pete. People think Kyle's ego is too big to hire a big name and maybe that's true. I feel like Kyle is safe hiring a guy at the end of his coaching career though. Is Pete really going to coach long enough to get another shot at a HC gig? I doubt it. Come spend your last two to three years (max) coaching Defense for the team you came up the ranks with back in the day, Pete. Full circle.

The problem with Pete's defenses is that they've been figured out. Doesn't seem like Kyle has had any particular issues carving it up, therefore half the league running our system wouldn't either. With that said, Carroll has shown that if he has the star power he can maximize their efficiency. And we do have the star power at every layer on our defense.

Wouldn't rank him top choice, but I won't be mad if he gets the gig…
