Who will be the Niners new DC?-Rooney Rule Now Applicable

After all this wait, Kyle announces it was an internal hire. This speaks volumes. It pretty much means that's everyone they looked into from the outside did not show interest. Yea it's definitely a bad look.

'Pretty much' doing a lot of work there, especially with no insight into who's been interviewed and when.

Fan impatience doesn't fill the gaps of knowledge we all have in the process.

Why else would it take this long? The Combine is on Monday. Unless their #1 choice either declined or is still mulling it over, there is no reason to not have this done by now.

When the Chiefs lost the 2018 AFC Championship, they fired their DC the next day and hired Spags three days later. They didn't **** around for two weeks just because it was February. That's the difference between an organization that actually knows how to win Super Bowls and one that doesn't.

Could be as simple as a potential target not being available to interview to this point. The idea is to talk to multiple candidates and find a match that works for both parties.

Again, we have no insight into the process. Reporters have offered nothing but general speculation and fans (at least some of them) are impatient. None of those things change the fact that none of us have any actual clue why a hire hasn't been made yet. People are guessing.

Honestly I'd take Staley over Wilks and that just might be the case. Not that I'm advocating for it, my guy is Vrabel, but why don't you want Staley? People can look to LAC and how he ran that place, but Staley wouldn't be in charge in SF. So what's to worry??

I would be one pissed off fan if he hired Staley that is a lateral move at best he may be worse than wilks.
TLDR summation of this thread.

"I'm not getting the info I want fast enough so I'm going to draw as many long bow conclusions as I can until I get the information I want"
I'm still trying to figure what the combine has to do with the DC
This extended wait to make an announcement just to hire an internal guy would be immeasurably underwhelming.

Same here. The combine is just to see how fast these guys run in underwear and how many times they can bench press. Shanahan isn't even going and lots of other coaches aren't either.

Yeah doggy, DeMeco was such a bad internal hire too

Why would you be pissed off?? Is Staley too conservative or aggressive? Just he treat his player like s**t and has no control of the locker room? Does Staley have bad judgment when scouting players?? Does he not know how to game plan? What is it, it may seem like I'm advocating for Staley but really, I just want to know why people would be pissed off if hired?

100000% truth. KS and Lynch couldn't even respond to this.

Cause he sucked eggs has a HC. And personally I don't think he would be a good fit. Heck the raiders scored 63 points on his defense.

DeMeco was hired four days after Saleh left for the Jets.

Wilks was fired 10 days ago and still crickets.

This is NOT a good look. Period. Hiring an internal candidate after 2+ weeks is optically embarrassing. Remember when we hired Tomsula as HC 17 days after Harbaugh was let go and how well that worked out? Exactly.

The only way this long wait can be justified is if it's a massive splash external hiring that requires a lot of contract work.
