He should have been fired after last week. Fire him now.

11 consecutive red zone TD's allowed by the Niner defense.

If he's not fired today the 49ers deserve to lose the rest of the way out because that's what will happen.

Steve Wilks was fired for a lot less, and rightfully so.

They need another "head coach" type to run the defense like Saleh and Ryans were, and what they tried to do with Wilks.
Sorenson is clueless and Staley is a total and complete loser. His stink permeates wherever he goes.

If I'm Kyle I say look, ultimately we are giving up too many plays in key situations, guys have openly said they weren't prepared for certain things, and we aren't generating any turnovers, and those are things that you look at to feel like your guys are being put in position to make plays, and we're just not seeing that.

Mentioned in the Brown thread but there seems to be confusion in the secondary at least once a game. I don't think they have a firm grasp on the scheme. Especially in trips/bunch it seems like nobody knows who they are covering or how to pass off.

Par for the course, on offense we have the same type of thing going on with FG attempts.

He can also add the data to support.. We are at or near bottom five in all the following categories:
3rd down conversions allowed per game
3rd down conversion %
4th down conversions per game
4th quarter points allowed
Red zone TD percentage allowed
Points per play allowed
Rush TD percentage & TD per game

All great points and I certainly won't complain when Sorensen gets fired. The challenge has been that the defense is missing a number of key star players and the roster is constructed to be far too top heavy. Hargraves and Bosa are out, Elliott and Givens are out, Fred Warner should be out, Ward's kid died and Lenore has been banged up. Hunfunga is out. Part of the reason the Bills defense looked better was that they don't have $50 million+ sitting on the bench with injuries.
Having said that, like you say, the defense looks out of position to make a play on critical downs and doesn't look like its "scrappy". While the splash production may not be there, the hustle, heart, and putting players in a position to make a play is all on the coaching. How about all those missed tackles? That's coaching. I don't think you'd see a Saleh or Ryans defense miss that many tackles. The defense doesn't look like it wants to be out there, like its having fun, being aggressive.
In so many ways the 49ers defense looks uninspired, passionless, out of position, and poorly coached. It was a rotten assignment for Sorensen to be sure but he's clearly not ready to be a coordinator just yet. Part of his job is to motivate the players he has.

I'm waiting for some headlines about a certain 49ers DC today.

I don't understand what Staley is doing, and how two guys seem to be failing at one job. I'd think Staley is there to help Sorenson overcome his inexperience. But nothing has changed with scheme

if Kyle does not fire this idiot and thinks he should get another year, would that convince the base that Kyle needs to go?

No but it would start to make a strong case for it.

Watching the tape nick rarely disguises his defense. Once they are in cover 2, they remain there. He doesn't bring one safety down to help the run.
This is why Brown sucks. He has to fly down the field and homie takes bad angles when does so.
