Well Sorensen is a white guy, so they couldn't just hire him even if he was their #1 choice by a mile. Had to interview at least 2 minority candidates AND couldn't make it obvious they already had someone in mind, because of the Racist...er...Rooney Rule.
Can't believe they had a chance at someone who has 5 SBs and knows how to call defenses that stopped us in the SB twice AND stopped the undefeated Patriots. Kyle is such an insecure clown couldn't take the heat from that interview last week and decided to take his ball home and hire his little buddy instead.

So in order to refute my logic you're using a statement that simply isn't true: not every coach on the staff is THE assistant HC. It is a different role. Now it may be specialized, as you say based on the situation, but to ASSUME that he's focused solely or primarily on defense - we don't know that.

you have no idea if Merritt is competent enough to be a coordinator. how come after 4 Super Bowls wins, he never got a DC job?
