If he comes back and the Niners don't add some beef in the middle of the line and another LB the defense will be about the same. If Greenlaw comes back and plays well and they beef up the line thn even Sorenson can look better.

I hear you, but imo Sorensen doesn't give off that same energy we need. And I don't think he's nearly as X on savvy either. Avery Johnson did that under 2 on Purdy as Aikman explained. It was a great game of chess and led to a pick. I've never seen anything like that from our d this year. I want a real dc who can do stuff like that. And I'm tired of being beholden to one scheme. A good coach can mold his scheme to his roster etc.
Ccompletely agree 👍🏾 we need a coordinator who can scheme up different looks against each opponent & not just run the same damn defense over 90% of the time & not switch things up. Hope he is released as coach after the game next week along with the special teams coach

Donte Whitner on NBC Sports knows exactly what happened and where the miss coverages are. His film study is amazing at least bring him in as a consultant. His take after the Lions victory was amazing.

Do something on defense to get better. I'm all for thinking & trying stuff outside the box

I wish there was a way we could make that happen. We need someone who understands where the opponent is adjusting and make adjustments to counter.
There is still a lot of talent on this team and with some coaching adjustments we would be right back in it. Now will that happen, I hope so in the 2025/26 season.

There was a time when it was said that "Defense win games". When 21 points should be good enough to win several games. It shouldn't be up to the offense to score 30 or more points and if that's your expectation, then you're really putting your offense under a lot of extra pressure.
The 49er's HAVE the players to do it, but you have to know how to utilize them properly. I'm sorry, but strategy is NOT Sorensen's strong points.
As I said before, the 49er's USED to blow out the opposing teams during the 2nd half of the games, when the DEFENSE took over, but NOT anymore.
As most can remember, the opposing teams used to lose the next games AFTER playing the 49er's. That's how dominant they were. They still basically had the same personel so what happened? LACK of Adjustments!

If anything happens, the most likely scenario is Staley getting move to DC.

That would be vomit-inducing and I'd lead the parade for Shanahan to be fired.

Lets see who is out there after we see what staffs are fired after this week, but I would definitely bring back Saleh to start.
