I could see us poaching someone from the Vikings staff and making them DC or assistant DC or something. That was the craziest defense we played all year.

Flores is probably the only guy i would want.. i wouldn't mind a top staff from his group, but a new guy still needs more than a year to learn

Can we just ask him to go back to being our LB's coach? That would be the ideal scenario.

Regardless, I called this last February. I said that the fact that it was taking us forever to replace Wilks was a MASSIVE red flag. We fired him right after the SB. Fine. Can't wait to see who our replacement is because it must be someone awesome we have in mind, like Bill Belichick!

When it turned out to be an internal hire after three weeks, I then realized that firing Wilks was purely a reactionary move to the Super Bowl loss with no real plan C. It wouldn't surprise me if we thought "let's fire Wilks and try to hire Bill or poach Spags!" and then when both said no we were like "uh shucks!"

I would rather bring in an experienced dc that actually knows what he is doing. Those stats you throw out are deceiving. You really think our d is the 6 best in the league? No way. The browns defense at least knows how to get off the field. 3rd best on 3rd down. The btowns d stats suffer from how much time they are on the field due to an inept offense. Schwartz also has Kyle's offensive down. How well do we do against his D? What's Kyle's record against Schwartz.

Is the failed HC/DC Shortz the answer, not really. I rather not waste a year to move up the ranks a few notches. The guy has bounced around the league and wouldn't be a long term solution. Someone from the outside will need more than a season to get things together.
