I would offer a very big bag to steal shwarts. Browns are horrible but the d is fierce.
i'm sure you can find some hard hits by our defense this year
So you rather roll with what we have now? 👍
I would rather bring in an experienced dc that actually knows what he is doing. Those stats you throw out are deceiving. You really think our d is the 6 best in the league? No way. The browns defense at least knows how to get off the field. 3rd best on 3rd down. The btowns d stats suffer from how much time they are on the field due to an inept offense. Schwartz also has Kyle's offensive down. How well do we do against his D? What's Kyle's record against Schwartz.
is Sorenson the answer who knows
Is the failed HC/DC Shortz the answer, not really. I rather not waste a year to move up the ranks a few notches. The guy has bounced around the league and wouldn't be a long term solution. Someone from the outside will need more than a season to get things together.

You had a shot at going back to the playoff having almost the SAME players as before, and you hire a ROOKIE DC? What kind of a bonehead decision is that?
I would say that Shanahan and Lynch are just as much to blame as anyone else! The chances of going back to the Play-Off now hinges and which players are the 49e'rs able to keep. Deebo Samuel will most likely be out, but who remains will be an interesting Off Season.
Hopefully, they are able to keep most of defensive unit in tack! .... and hire a DC that knows how to utilize them!

Let's not count our chickens here. I would love to have Saleh back or someone proven but we gotta be realistic here.

That 4th down call in the endzone when John Lynch got pissed off should seal the deal. IMO
Knew Sorensen was a bad hire when his name got thrown in the ring. I'm praying to god they move on from Sorensen!!!

I'm always rooting for the 49ers to win. However, I struggle with that decision if we are out of the playoffs and it means giving up a significant draft position, let's say top 3. If we are to lose today, I wouldn't mind getting blown out just to make it easier to get rid of our DC.

If he gets replaced I hope they replace him with someone with a LB background. Sorensen just like Wilks seemingly focused on the back end but was pretty vanilla on the front end. Its not surprising that long term secondary coaches would focus primarily on the secondary when it comes to playcalling. DL coaches that move to DC tend to focus upfront to the exclusion of the secondary which leads to a lot of vanilla on the back end.
I think LB coaches have the best balance in that they have to focus both on coverage and rushing the QB. Saleh and Ryans both were far more creative when it came to stunts and traps up front, utilizing the DL creatively. Similarly a DC like Spagnuolo came from a combined secondary and LB coaching background.
