Its not surprising that long term secondary coaches would focus primarily on the secondary when it comes to playcalling. DL coaches that move to DC tend to focus upfront to the exclusion of the secondary which leads to a lot of vanilla on the back end.

I think LB coaches have the best balance in that they have to focus both on coverage and rushing the QB. Saleh and Ryans both were far more creative when it came to stunts and traps up front, utilizing the DL creatively. Similarly a DC like Spagnuolo came from a combined secondary and LB coaching background.

If Gym Shorts is available they should do everything possible to bring him in. If he signed a standard two year contract in 2023 then that means he'd be up in a week or so. Have Jim Harbaugh put in a good word for us.

I don't think he'll come here because for some reason I feel him and Kyle don't mesh well with one another, but thats just my opinion. I would like the hire if they did go after him though.
