Mcloud screwed it up.. if he didn't hesitate this is a moot point

From an assignment perspective yes. But D is about effort, pursuit, and tackling. That play had none of it.
Hard to hire a top DC candidate early. A lot of them are being interviewed for HC jobs

Is he?

outside of the obvious guys that are available. I would like SF to look at the DB coach for KC again Dave Merritt.

But why? He's been an NFL assistant for 25 years and no one has ever sought fit to make him a coordinator before. I can't think of a single successful coordinator who was an assistant for that long before moving up.

Guy won 2 SBs as a secondary coach with the Giants, was with them forever and neither they nor anyone else seemed to think highly enough of him to give him the job. Nor did Arizona. He was already in-house with KC and they didn't give him the job either.

I mean Reid was a position coach for 16 yrs than became a HC.

I guess more my point is how about we go look for someone that has been around great defensive minds with great defenses and might add something besides just running the same scheme that we've had since Kyle has gotten here.

I know Kyle wouldn't hate that, he's wanted guys like Fangio who doesn't run the same stuff.

overall I thought Sorensen was in over his head and it didn't get better even from a X's and O's stand point

He also acted unprofessionally after we interviewed him. He went on some media interview and talked tash about us and our players.

That podcast was before kyle interviewed him. All he said was #11 spent more time chirping than getting open in the SB.

i had a feeling he wouldn't want to go back to DC at first
The guy the Bengals just fired is pretty good IMO. His defense had a bad year but many people around the league think he's a good coordinator. I mean can you name a defensive player from the Bengals? Hard to play good defense with a bunch of avg players.

Hell no

Hubbard/Hendrickson/Hill are all really good. I feel like Hendrickson is the most underrated DE in football. They've had some pretty damn food secondary players over the past couple years.

at one point Lou Anarumo was looked at as a HC candidate.
This should make us nervous of the Ulbrich hire

I hope we are done with wide 9 and move to something else

Trey Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks this season.
