i think it's hard to expect them to come off the street to become DCs. The successful coaches work insane hours during the season and having them as assistants first would be the better road for them.

Per a league source, the 49ers are moving on from Nick Sorensen at defensive coordinator. The team hopes it can retain Sorensen in some capacity. ... The 49ers have an opening at special teams coordinator and Sorensen was a special team coordinator in Jacksonville in 2021.

Does our revolving door of Defensive-Co Ordinator get the blame for some of Kyle's issues. it's like Kyle washes his hands totally of any defensive responsibilities.

Agreed. At the end of day, even if someone is my friend, I am not giving them the job over someone I know who gives my team a better chance at a championship. It's not fair to the players. They deserve the best coaches they can get.

We have an opportunity to get better and that's really all there is to it. If we were a full rebuild, it might be different.

Could very well be ST in some capacity. He was a ST assistant in Seattle for a few years (got a ring with them). And then ST coordinator with Jacksonville. If you think about it holistically this would be the most logical move in trying to retain him. This is what we're all speculating right now. Im closer with his brother and even he's keeping his lips sealed. Wish I could reveal more

I hope not. After hearing Sorensen explain why the tackling was so bad this season. That's not someone I want in charge of special teams.
