4 hrs. Longer than I expected

Seems like a decent dude, both he and Staley played QB in college so its interesting to see them having established themselves on the defensive side of the ball in the NFL.
If he's so amazing, then why wasn't he promoted last year, and why did it take 17 days for him to get promoted this year?

Seahawks pass defense was also not very good from 2017-2020.

Money wise , yeah . I guess so. Niners need money in order to bring back tha same squad.

Like I said, Bosa and Warner pretty much call the shots anyways. And Shanny will veto any soft ass super bowl coverage like Wilks did in the 4th quarter.

Can we say the least amount of continuity possible

This is a good point and don't disagree however the point of discussion was he hired a yes man. Merritt or someone outside may have given better insight into his KS10 issues be brought from Atlanta.

Sorensen was a player in the NFL for a decade and a coach in the NFL for nearly a decade before he joined the 49ers. He's got a good deal of experience outside of the 49ers building as well and has only been with the team for two years. Long enough to learn the system and the personnel but also a guy you'd expect to have a lot of his own views and ideas.

I agree and we hope he is great...I would love to see him as the next Demeco. The point was he may or not be a yes man to Kyle. Kyle needs someone to check him on the most important times in the game adjustments. Kyle also needs a offensive game planner to help him when he be gets stuck in critical situations.

Obviously I'm not a Kyle fan yet his ego is way too big given his lack of superbowl victories. If he starts to adjust his game plan I'll jump back on the Kyle train. Right now we don't need a group of yes men in a Superbowl window that starts to close after next year.

Do I think there is someone out there better maybe but in not firing Kyle if I was in charge.

My friend, compare his resume with Sorensen's side-by-side. It's not even close.

I think we can agree that Kyle needs to add more to the staff. Its been absolutely ravaged over the past few years and they really need to build it back up again. I'd like to see them add a lot more young coaches to develop because they're starting to run out of in-house guys that they seem confident in as being the "next man up" in the future.

Maybe some folks but he was on many talk shows due to his incredible backfield in KC.
I don't know how this makes sense. But hiring internal is probably better than external. Since it was a disaster for us. No compensatory picks for this one if he leaves.

You're right, it didn't take Sorensen 20 years(and counting) to land a coordinator job.

The possibility that you seem to refuse to consider is that Merritt is just a really good position coach and the rest of the league has largely determined that it is his ceiling.

They were a rebuilding team those years losing players and aging out on defense.

How do we know he isn't amazing? No company or organization gets their hires right 100 percent of the time. The successful ones recognize it quickly and do something to fix it instead of letting it play out.

In ine statement you ask why Sorensen didn't get promoted sooner, but then you give the 15 year plus position coach a pass? Lol
