Sorensen has Bosa, AA, Hargrave, Warner, Greenlaw (at some point), Hufanga (also at some point), Ward & Lenoir. Lots of talent to fall back on. Keep it relatively simple and he should be fine.

Agreed

I'm not really sure who this twitter account belongs too tbh

But I think this is the actual dude from SI that a lot of us aren't really fond about https://twitter.com/grantcohn

Exactly.

LOL Sorensen... Staley, two Bay Area fan favorites who lost the "big ones".

These decisions were ultimately sort of tied to the last draft board connected to Adam Peters/Joey Bosa. This is either a "Hitler in Spring" season for Shanahan, or we're eclipsing the '18 Patriots. Whatever the moon should decide I reckon...

Coached the LoB and under carroll and mixing in some Fangio with Staley on board, not a bad combo on paper….I hope it works out.

Too many cooks spoiling the broth. I don't like it. Totally unnecessary hire.

Don't matter to me anyways anymore. All we will continue to do is lose in the big games.

Anyone can have a podcast nowadays. I can start one now and blurt out a bunch of crap. Doesn't make it true. You a good dude but I won't believe it until you cite a legit source.
So Wilks just sat there in meetings all week and waited until the SB to call plays. Ok, podcaster guy. (not you NY).

I don't listen to Joe blow pods. I don't know why chris biderman or kyle Posey's pods keep popping in my head…it's cool if you don't believe me. I'm not lying about it. It also doesn't mean what they said is true.

we do know Wilks' game plan vs Seattle got overwritten by Kyle and our DB coach. Ward talked about it. There were multiple points throughout the season when we saw WTF moments from him and it was coming to an end regardless of what happened in the SB. It's not shocking to believe Kyle had more faith in his internal guys to formulate a game plan vs Wilks….im sure Wilks wasn't just sitting in the corner, but he probably didn't have the type of authority most DC's have with all that.

We call that the offensive line. Most of their offensive struggles in the past few years all come down to the same thing, struggles with the OL and inability to hold blocks when they really need them.

That's the biggest area I'm looking to see some sort of evolution in approach from Shanahan. They largely lost two SB's because they couldn't block Chris Jones. I want to see a greater commitment to building the OL now that they have a QB that they actually seem to trust and the gameplan doesn't have to be geared towards "protect the QB from himself" the way it was in previous years.

Facts.

What we do with this unit will tell us everything we need to know about our expectations this year.

Agree but that doesn't tell the whole story. A misunderstanding of the blocking scheme cost
us the late TD, not an unskilled offensive lineman that just got blown through. There is merit to the "Shanny overthinks it" narrative.

if the linemen don't know who to block, perhaps it's the scheme

Huh? We had numerous false starts, OL running into each other and blowing assignments like it was pre season, had another 50% pressure rate game, only 3.5 ypc, etc. There isn't many more ways one unit could cost you a game esp. when it mattered most.

There's not a lot of skill along the OL in general if you're looking for Superbowl standards.

I get what you're saying about Kyle though. He certainly gets tight.

For the record, I think this guy is an idiot and I 100 percent would not put weight behind a comment based on his 'source(s).'

I do think it's reasonable to assume the possibility Kyle had more impact on the Super Bowl gameplan considering he was clearly out on Wilks and you have extra time to prep for the game.

Plus he had an extra week to help build it, refine it and cement it.

Exactly. Everyone celebrating like we got our top choice SB here we come. They skipped Sorensen last year, then went after all their top candidates before settling on him. Not inspiring at all. And obviously Staley didn't blow them away with his interview, but they thought let's just add him to the mix for no reason.

Its a s**t show all around, but fans think this was a great achievement
