Commen sense. Staley was one of the first to interview. If he blew them away, why not just hire him as your DC on the spot ? What's the downside ? He's not getting a HC job anytime soon. Adding him as an AHC is an afterthought. Makes no sense except to undermine your underwhelming DC hire bc you need a backup just in case vs you don't think your scheme does enough so you're hoping to add some concepts to it.

Um, apparently you don't know the Rooney Rule. And it would appear that you have never done recruitment. But obviously, you are looking for the chance on an ongoing basis to call the 49ers a clown show. By the way, are you not aware that Staley is replacing Anthony Lynn? No, didn't think so.
