Liked the Lenoir interview. Referred to things as growing pains. Not sure if we have a lot of time for those. Still time to adjust but not hopeful atm. This season just is off. Maybe we win eight or nine games idk.

I heard someone ( I think it was Mike Silver) talking about the Niners defense. He said that he felt they were a little small on the edges and teams were able to handle their one on one pass rush. Bosa is 265-270 but Floyd is only about 240. They rely on a 4 man rush a lot and without big powerful guys it's hard to cave in that O line. They need to start blitzing more. Not every down but at least make the offense think about it.

San Francisco has the third worst third down defense in football, allowing 52.9 % conversion rate. Over Kyle's first seven seasons, his defense allowed just 39% on third downs.
So Sunshine can't get his D off the field. He has Staley helping, it can't just be talent if we're third worst in the league.

I am sure a defense with no talent could be the 3rd worst in the league...

But....this defense has historically great players. We have a HOF DE, and HOF LB in their prime...on top of that at least one, maybe 2 solid CBs.....even if every other position was below average....I don't think it is out of the question to expect better performance....

Sorensen better start making better calls on third down especially if he wants to keep his playcalling duties. He has one more week, maybe two to get his act together before Staley gets called in to replace him. There is no way the Niners should be this bad.

I just heard that Sorensen was a ST coordinator for Jacksonville before. Maybe rotate him to ST which is even worse that Defense.

Awful. I mean not getting pressure on 3rd downs and I'm assuming the coverage calls are crap. Have to go to the Johnny D thread and see what he thinks

That is frickin horrible!!! Thank Odom, Campbell, Brown, Yiadom and Sorensen for this mess. Offenses don't give this defense any respect no more, see Sam Darnold and his 99 yard touchdown pass. Sorensen outta be ashamed of himself, Lynch too for neglecting the Safety position.

Quite frankly I think it's coaching and scheme 100%

I have seen zero creativity this year. Have we heard even a single comment from a broadcast team about a nice disguised call? I haven't.

Inexcusable for these results with our talent.

We run one-sided overload fronts for goal line and short yardage. We put strong safeties on WR1s. I've even seen linebackers and DL matched up with receivers sometimes.

We went from one bad play caller to another. Wilks would play guys 10 yards off on 3rd and 2. He had the famous all out blitz with mere seconds left before the half.

We made a change, but Sorensen so far is even worse IMO. He makes idiotic play calls for even larger stretches of the game than Wilks did, TBH.

It's true and he's been fooled with his coverages. When the Rams TE got that PI at the end of the game against Campbell the 2 Rams coaches were cheering like school girls. They knew exactly who would be left covering him and their TE would either be wide open or grabbed.

What made Shans think that Sunny was going to be an improvement? I don't understand some of these decisions

Side note, I think Dmo would make a good DC one day.
