Because we like to think we're elite because we have star players everywhere and just waiting for some thing to happen. The reality is that this defense is so unclutch it's not even funny. Such a short week to put this loss behind us and expect hope on Thursday. I don't think thats gonna happen this week.

I'm starting to think firing Wilks was the bad move and trying to see if a 2nd year under the D could have been better. Couldn't have been any worse than the D now under Sorenson. We are 5 weeks in, and I think it was around this time when Shanny had a chat with Wilks and he starting coaching from the sideline. I think its time for Shanny to have that same conversation with Sorenson and change something up.

Shanahan needs to have that conversation in front of the mirror. His team. His repeated mistakes. His hires.

I'm tired of this s**t.

Watts is faster, more nimble, and less predictable. Boss is stiff, bull rush to the outside is his only trick. Teams just shove him outside and step forward to get time to pass. No other DL is a threat.

Bosa might be more stiff than TJ Watt but hes certainly not a stiff by DE standards. And bullrushing to the outside is not his ONLY trick.

They can stabilize the defense this season but the scheme itself has got to be scrapped this offseason because this scheme is past it's expiration date. Needs too much talent on every level and offenses have adjusted to it.

Wilks wasn't the right hire but Shanahan almost had the right idea in bringing in someone from the outside to let them bring some fresh ideas to a stale scheme. The problem was Shanahan wanted Wilks to conform to that stale scheme and because that didn't work he went back to his comfort zone and has Sorensen turning back the clock to run the scheme like it was a couple of years ago.

Something seriously needs to be done about Campbell. He's a complete liability.

We couldn't tackle JC. That was sad to watch.

Cut Campbell and add two new VETERAN Safeties whether its via free agency or trade. I really can't stand Sorensen and the defense. Use to be a strength and now its such a huge liability.

To me...this starts and ends with the line....

Can't keep an edge, and can't plug the middle, cant keep linemen off the lbers.

This reminds me of the Colt's early line during the Manning run....maybe not as talented....but still a bunch of dudes going for individual glory...

This team does not need a new sexy uber dude on the line....

this team needs big nasty men in the middle that are willing to do the hard work that never shows up on the stat sheet.

Yeah, dude almost makes me miss Wilks. I agree on getting some safeties. This is just a cluster cluck.

This defense has bosa, warner who are studs and then two decent corners. But our dt's suck and our safeties suck. Being this weak up the middle is crippling the defense. I don't see any solution to it with the current roster.

This is not the 2019 or 2021 defense talent wise quite clearly but look at other teams in the league, it's not stacked city either and some DCs make it work. I remember DeMeco's first season and it was not impressive during the first half, remember the Colt McCoy game, so I will give his chance to Sorensen. But after 5 games well, I don't really see the improvement from Steve Wilks.

Wilks strength was the secondary I believe and I thought they played decent last year. It was the front seven that needed the work. I feel like this defense might have taken a step up had Wilks stayed for a 2nd year but Shanny needed a scapegoat for the SB loss and everyone wanted him gone because we thought that D was bad. I think this year's defense is even worse than what Wilks had last year.
