49ers DC Nick Sorensen

One thing that I cannot stand is how our blitzes are so poorly timed.

We give away that we are blitzing a good 3 seconds before the snap and it allows the QB to adjust...and the sad thing is we don't even audible out of the blitz when it's obvious the QB recognized our blitz pre snap.

Ya, it's been our thing for several years now, even with Meco, Saleh, it was an issues. So I don't blame the DC for that, it's not his job. That's the position coaches that need to do a better job with teaching angles, technique, etc.

The DBs still don't look like they feel comfortable in the scheme. Out of position, missed communication, wrong assignments. Assume that will improve over time with reps but it's certainly contributing to the current problems.

I saw a stat where only one sack was the result of all the blitz that was called this year.

Sorensen has been garbage but we can't forget that this year we have 3 good players on defense and that's it.

Even Mooney has been playing like crap this season. The D-line outside Bosa is a joke. Campbell isn't NFL-caliber anymore and the safeties can't cover and can't tackle.

Our defense lacks talent everywhere and we must accept it.

Ya, not liking the DB play either. Too many times I see them with their backs to the ball, instead of turning and looking for the ball. That to me says they are being taught to do that, or they don't trust their over the top help coverage. Either way, not good. DB was supposed to be a strength this year...

Honestly this defense is reminding me of Seattle's defense the last few seasons under Carroll and that's not a good thing.

Carroll went through multiple DCs with their defense never showing any signs of change or improvement. Despite all the investments made into it their defense was just middle of the road and looked sloppy like ours does right now.

If you checked out Seahawks message boards at the time what they said wasn't all too different from what we're saying about our defense and coordinators.

That's why I firmly believe Shanahan needs to do a complete reset of the defense this offseason. Keep a few of the position coaches worth keeping but bring in guys with a whole new scheme.

A concerning thing about the defense is they're allowing these 3rd and 4th down conversions while having the best time of possession advantage of any team so far. Niner's defense is on the field for 25:42 a game, which is ranked #1. That's with their 3rd down % of 43.3 (ranked 22nd) and 4th down % of 57.1 (ranked 17th). If they could get a handful more key stops on 3rd and 4th per game they'd probably see some notable improvement in other areas, too.

Why isn't this coach putting in Bethune for Campbell??????
I understand Bethune is an ILB, but dear God, slot him to play next to Fred, he can't be as bad as Campbell

I look at Denver they got rookies playing in their defense, but we refuse, instead we keep trotting Campbell and that idiot Yiadom out there
