Totally agree. Fred Warner has been missing tackles and struggling in coverage too. He's not having his normal Pro Bowl year at all. It could be because Campbell doesn't make a good duo like Greenlaw does, one brings down the other. At this point I'd bring up Jalen Graham and start Dee Winters. This is just sad and how the mighty have fallen.

Graham got cut and Winters isn't very good himself. It's basically Greenlaw or bust now.

The 9ers ignoring the back 7 has finally bit them hard.

I disagree on Fred. He's been great for the most part. He just can't do everything.

This, not a damn thing I have an issue with Fred. When your other LB mates suck you can't cover it all up, we're really putting all our eggs in the Dre basket and hope even coming off the Achilles he's way better than Campbell and Winters. At one point we really had a LB core of Warner, Greenlaw and Al-Shair fml

I 50% agree with this. Fred has been great starting this season, but there have been a lot of plays where its Fred 1v1 and hes just not making the tackle, or makes the tackle but lets the runner go for 2-3 yards for the 1st down. Fred has been playing at DPOY level but these past few games hes been dropping a lil bit. Definitely not one of our big problems or problems at all but just my opinion on his past few games.
When our defense needed to step up in the redzone in the 4th they did by holding the buccs to a FG, allowing the offense to get in position to win the game winning fg.
I'm not throwing in the towel on him just yet. It may take a year to get his groove. I do think he needs to figure out a way to blitz better. I did notice he had Floyd standing up on some plays in the middle with Warner and that might have helped made Mayfield to get the ball out quicker and less accurate.

Defensive Ranks (Avg per game)
Total D: 10
Passing: 14
Rushing: 6
Scoring: 16
Redzone: 22
3rd down: 25

So really bad in the Money Areas and Money Downs.

Our fourth down defense is also among the worst.

It's frustrating because you can see he's good at some things, but why doesn't he have the "gotta stop it" creative play to seal the deal?

I mean to be fair, it's not always on him. I have no idea why Bosa didn't just wrap up Baker's legs and drag him down, nor do I understand why Fred thought he could get away with a blatant facemask which he held nearly the entire play. Those guys should both be smarter than that.

That's homer talk, Warner has missed more tackles this season than I've ever seen from him. Not to mention he makes the wrong reads sometimes and takes himself outta the play. I'm not saying he's s**tty of course he'll still end up going to the Pro Bowl, but I don't see him as first team all-pro like last season.

Absolutely disagree. He's having one of his best seasons. If everybody else was as locked in we'd be a hell of a team.

When things go wrong for Warner it's usually because he's trying to compensate for other people. This year I feel like he's doing a good job of being aggressive but staying within scheme.

Yes, he will miss something here or there, just like anybody, but Fred warner is having a bigger positive influence on outcomes than anybody else on defence, play after play. On an insanely talented roster, he might just be our best player (all units) this season.
surprising because of our record, but Sorenson's defense is top ten so far.

In the NFC, the Eagles are the only team outside of the NFC North that have conceded less points than us.

Miss here and there? He led the 49ers defense in missed tackles last season, it's not a secret that he does miss tackles. Like I said, you're acting like I'm saying he's been s**tty, just tryna say it has been an issue, see AZ vs SF. All I get is nope, nope Fred Warner is having his best season. lol

Anyway, I'm moving on with this.
